Warhorse Studios stays coy about its next game
The makers of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 had an AMA on Reddit today that quickly devolved into debates over recent AI allegations. But in-between the unsatisfactory answers and fan finger-pointing, the developers were also asked about the rumor that the studio is working on a Lord of the Rings game, the license for which is owned by its parent company, Embracer.
“Obviously we can’t comment on future projects, at least not until we’re in the future (but if you have a time machine, please show us!),” community manager Tom Grey wrote in response to one user. “Voilá there is a response!” content director Ondrej Bittner wrote in another. “But unfortunately not the one you hope for. We are hard at work on…something. I cannot disclose details but I can tell it is a huge, immersive RPG.”
It’s very possible Warhorse is simply making Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3, or a game like it. And it would be just as easy to refute the LotR rumors without disclosing that fact.
A bidding war breaks out for Michael B. Jordan’s Battlefield movie
The Wrap reports that multiple studios are interested and willing to pay top dollar to lockdown the rights after Battlefield 6 was the top-selling game in the U.S. last year and Activision revealed its upcoming Call of Duty movie. Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon MGM Studios, Sony, Universal, and Netflix have all submitted bids despite the project still not having a script, though longtime Mission: Impossible director and writer Christopher McQuarrie is signed on to take care of all that.
Pragmata 2 could be a thing that happens
Push Square reports that Capcom USA chief operating officer Rob Dyer was bullish on the prospect at the recent iicon industry event in Las Vegas. “We’re to a point now where we’ve got another IP that Capcom—and god bless them, has an arsenal—that we can continue to go down,” he said, adding that the Japanese development team incorporated feedback from the U.S. office over the course of the sci-fi game’s prolonged development to make it better. “It was worth the effort,” Dyer said.
The original Culdcept is coming back
JRPG Monopoly is getting a sequel this year, but the original game that started it all is also getting a second lease on life. A remaster titled Culdcept The First Saturn Tribute will bring the first entry in the series to English-speaking audiences for the first time on console and PC on September 8 with new quality-of-life features.
