Lego Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight Finally Lets You Build Your Own Batcave

No Batman game would feel complete without a trip to the Batcave, and that’s a tradition that many Caped Crusader games have upheld over the decades. In Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, players will get to frequently visit Batman’s high-tech hideout, but with a twist, growing and expanding it over time.

Developer TT Games has revealed how players will build their very own crime-fighting headquarters, as the Batcave starts as nothing more than a glorified hole situated underneath Wayne Manor. In a nod to Batman Begins, Bruce Wayne will discover his future lair at a young age and will once again return to it, expanding and transforming the location into his primary base of operations.

As players progress through the game, they’ll be able to display their collection of batsuits–including recent reveals like the Batman Ninja samurai armor and the hulking Absolute Batman batsuit–and marvel at a garage full of Batmobiles. The collection of vehicles encompasses practically every era of Batman, from Adam West’s iconic speedster with red pinstriping to Val Kilmer’s H.R. Giger-inspired roadster and modern vehicles like the Pattmobile from 2022’s The Batman.

Beyond its function as a hub for Batman and his allies to prepare for their missions, the Batcave will also provide some respite from saving Gotham every night. Batman can furnish the location with trophies and gadgets, review case files via the Batcomputer, pump some iron in his home gym, and even put his boots up for a soak in the bat-tub.

First introduced in the 1943 Batman film serials, the Batcave has become a defining part of the Dark Knight’s identity and has since featured in every TV and big-screen adaptation. Over the decades, the Batcave has evolved with the times, and several smaller Batcave-inspired bunkers were established across Gotham City. In video games, Batman had established a smaller Batcave beneath Arkham Asylum, and it featured as a challenge map in Batman: Arkham City. Batman: Arkham Origins featured a fully accessible Batcave, and it was also used as a level in NetherRealm’s Injustice fighting games.

Designed to be a celebration of all things Batman, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight launches on May 29 for PC and consoles.
