LEGO Fan Buys Super Mario Bowser Set from Amazon and Gets an Incredible Surprise

LEGO Fan Buys Super Mario Bowser Set from Amazon and Gets an Incredible Surprise

One very lucky LEGO collector received a special surprise after ordering The Mighty Bowser Super Mario set from Amazon, receiving two massive builds for the price of one. Shipping errors aren’t exactly uncommon in the modern era of online shopping, but this fortunate LEGO fan now gets to decide what to do with a second copy of one of the biggest Nintendo sets ever made.

Nintendo’s strong relationship with the LEGO brand dates back to a partnership that came together in 2020, introducing new interactive play sets in the Super Mario line featuring Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach. Sets based on Luigi’s Mansion and the Donkey Kong Country franchise followed not long after, and in the present day, LEGO’s Pokemon set collection has joined other franchises like Animal Crossing and The Legend of Zelda to strengthen the link between the two brands.

Every LEGO Set Rumored and Confirmed for 2026 (& How Much Damage They’ll Do to Your Finances)

LEGO is about to release multiple new waves of sets for its big series as well as new ones, and here is everything you should know ahead of 2026.

LEGO Fan Gets Two Massive Bowser Builds for the Price of One

But LEGO’s Super Mario world of builds is still where everything started, and now, one lucky brick-building fan has wound up with two copies of one of the most sought-after building kits in the entire collection. As shared on Reddit, user Particular_Orchid566 shared an image of two The Mighty Bowser sets they received in-box from an Amazon order despite having only paid for one. The shipping error has earned the envy of a lot of Nintendo and LEGO fanatics, some of whom are congratulating the buyer for their good fortune and others who are lamenting their own personal lack of a Muighty Bowser build.

BUY YOURS NOW!

LEGO’s The Mighty Bowser set was first revealed in July 2022 and hit store shelves for the first time roughly three months later. The 2,807-piece set, intended for ages 18 and up, depicts the king of the Koopas standing on a stony base between two lit torches that bear his trademark insignia. Standing 12 and a half inches tall, and with a width and depth of a little over 16 and 11 inches, respectively, it’s also one of LEGO’s more expressive builds, featuring head movements, snapping jaws, other poseable points of articulation, and even a mouth-loaded fireball launcher. Retailing for $269.99, it’s soon to be added to the retired sets list, making this build particularly attractive to collectors.

Now, the fortuitous Amazon customer has a choice to make, and they seem torn between options of selling the duplicate set, returning it for a refund, or doing something really cool with it. One suggestion that seems enticing involves getting a little creative, breaking from the building instructions and instead constructing a monstrous two-headed, four-armed Bowser. One other option the LEGO enthusiast seems to be entertaining is altering the second build to create a replica of one of the scariest enemies in the Mario franchise, Dry Bowser, an undead, Dry Bones-like version of the massive turtle king who made his first appearance in New Super Mario Bros. and popped up again in games that include Super Mario 3D Land and New Super Mario Bros. 2.

Returning the second set could also be a profitable move. While the purchaser didn’t reveal how much they paid for The Mighty Bowser, current Amazon listings mark its price anywhere between the $269.99 tag on the LEGO website and $354. That’s not an insignificant amount of money, and if the buyer wanted to turn around and use it to buy more cool LEGO sets, there are a lot of options, including a $250 LEGO art set that releases on March 1, featuring a replica of French impressionist Claude Monet’s Lily Pads.
