Life Is Strange Developer Facing Dire Financial Situation

The original developer of Life is Strange, Don’t Nod Entertainment, is reportedly facing a dire financial situation that will likely change the studio dramatically. Despite the studio having a number of successes over the last decade, unfortunately, things aren’t looking good for the Life is Strange creator right now.

Surprise New Life is Strange: Reunion Release Officially Available Now

Fans of Life is Strange: Reunion are being treated to a brand new prequel focused on Chloe Price.

Financial Report Has Worrying Outlook for Don’t Nod’s Future

In a financial update report from Don’t Nod, the studio responsible for starting the award-winning Life is Strange franchise, explained its current situation for the first half of 2026, and how it plans to try and cope with the recent problems it’s faced. Don’t Nod states that for the H1 of 2026, the studio saw a 56% decline year-over-year with a revenue of €6.1 million, or just under $7.1 million USD. While Don’t Nod has already taken steps to try and be competitive, it has struggled to do so, and has now unveiled a business model that could mean up to 90 of its staff will be laid off. The report states that between current economic conditions and the state of the video game industry, plus “the deterioration of Don’t Nod’s key financial indicators,” this is a necessary step in order to try and keep its doors open and producing games. It also indicated that the studio needs to secure external financing, and that there is uncertainty whether the studio can keep its doors open past January 31, 2027 without it.
