Nintendo released version 1.0.2 of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream across the globe to address some outstanding issues with the game. Some of the bugs that the new Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream update fixed included ones that prevented players from making progress after specific events took place.
As one of the more eclectic releases of the year so far, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has offered Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 users ways to express their creativity and observe the interactions that the game’s Mii characters can find themselves in. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream allows players to create Mii characters based on both real people and on fictional characters. Some Tomodachi Life players have taken their creativity to the next level by making Miis based on non-Nintendo titles like Overwatch, Dragon Age, and Final Fantasy.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Fixes Some Crucial Issues
Weeks after Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream released its version 1.0.1 patch to fix some undisclosed issues, Nintendo launched a second update for players to download and install. The new Tomodachi Life content patch continued that same trend, as more bugs have been fixed. One of the bugs that was fixed with Tomodachi Life‘s latest update could prevent players from making progress after building up their island. Similar issues that prevented progress were also addressed, including one that could happen whenever players changed the exterior of a house made via the Palette House.

Tomodachi Life‘s latest patch also fixed some issues that could cause save data to become corrupted, which would prevent players from saving their progress. One of these issues could happen after a Mii character falls in love with another Mii and succeeds in confessing their feelings. Another save data corruption issue that was fixed could previously happen if multiple Mii characters started living together in the same building. Additionally, local play users can now send and receive things after a bug previously prevented the feature from working properly. Several other issues were also patched up in Tomodachi Life version 1.0.2, so users are encouraged to download and install the new version to avoid any potential problems.
Despite its quirks and unserious demeanor, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has already become one of the top-selling games of 2026. In early May, Nintendo reported that Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has sold over 3.8 million copies worldwide within its first two weeks. Nintendo also stated that, although Tomodachi Life was made for the original Nintendo Switch console, approximately 40% of players are enjoying the game on a Switch 2 console. Although the differences between playing Tomodachi Life on a Switch and Switch 2 are minimal, Switch 2 players have faster loading times and access to GameChat while playing.

The success of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream and Pokemon Pokopia are strong indicators that the life simulation genre is thriving on Nintendo’s current-gen consoles. With Tomodachi Life well on its way to selling 4 million units across the globe, it remains to be seen how many more units it will sell by the end of the year.
