Lord of Hatred Update Creates a Game-Breaking Aspect for Nearly Every Class

Lord of Hatred Update Creates a Game-Breaking Aspect for Nearly Every Class

Following the new Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred update, Blizzard has made the Aspect of Glynn’s Anvil completely game-breaking for most classes. It’s unclear whether the overpowered effects of this Diablo 4 Aspect are intentional, but right now, it is one of the most efficient ways to gain Toughness in the entire game.

Blizzard recently released Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred‘s 3.0.2 update, which included a long list of bug fixes for small issues players had been experiencing in the new expansion. One patch note has proved to be more impactful than first thought, which read, “Fixed an issue where Aspect of Glynn’s Anvil did not properly increase Damage Reduction per Resolve stack.” Prior to this, the Aspect’s main effect, which increases maximum Resolve by 2 and adds between 3-4% Damage Reduction per stack of Resolve, did not work as intended. Now, with the issue resolved, it has become a must-have Aspect for every eligible class.

Diablo 4 Players Are Being Kicked from Co-Op for Playing This Class

Diablo 4 players have some major complaints with one class, going so far as to kick players from co-op parties for playing it.

Diablo 4’s Aspect of Glynn’s Anvil is Completely OP After New 3.0.2 Update

Players have quickly noticed that the working version of Aspect of Glynn’s Anvil is ridiculously overpowered in Diablo 4 Patch 3.0.2. One Reddit thread started by user Long_Honey shared that their build, which stacks into maximum Resolve, sees their Toughness during combat reach as high as 52 million. Another player in the thread shared a screenshot that showed their Toughness above 101 million, making them nearly impossible to kill, even at high Diablo 4 Pit tiers. The difference is enormous, with one user explaining that before learning the Aspect was broken, Belial on Torment 12 would one-shot them, whereas now they don’t even need to dodge during the fight.

The only real caveat is that Aspect of Glynn’s Anvil is not available to every Diablo 4 class. Eligible classes are as follows:

  • Barbarian
  • Druid
  • Necromancer
  • Paladin
  • Rogue
  • Spiritborn

This means those playing as either a Sorcerer or the new Warlock cannot use this game-breaking Aspect. However, for the classes that can, it feels like a must-have right now. Using it allows players to focus their damage output on other items, with Aspect of Glynn’s Anvil doing all the heavy lifting in terms of defense. Classes like the Spiritborn and Rogue will likely benefit the most from this overpowered Diablo 4 Aspect, given that they’re naturally considered to be among the game’s squishier classes.

Is Overpowered Diablo 4 Aspect of Glynn’s Anvil Intentional?

The question now is whether Blizzard intended for Aspect of Glynn’s Anvil to be so overpowered following Patch 3.0.2. Obviously, this is not a buff to the Aspect; rather, it is simply making it work at all. However, it’s possible that, without the Aspect working in the first place, Blizzard did not realize just how powerful it would be once players started building around it, which they hadn’t been doing before for obvious reasons. If it does happen that the Aspect’s current power is unintentional, players can likely expect Blizzard to nerf it somewhat in a future Diablo 4 update.

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred and Season 13 are well underway, and players are largely responding well to the changes that Blizzard has made to the game. The expansion’s endgame additions (largely in the form of War Plans) have been popular with fans, and the story itself was a hit. While players are still making their voices heard for potential Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred changes, Blizzard has been quick to address complaints in the multiple early expansion patches.
