Lord of Hatred’s New Mythic Unique Makes Another One Virtually Useless

Lord of Hatred’s New Mythic Unique Makes Another One Virtually Useless

Alongside the new Warlock and Paladin classes, and the new region of Skovos, Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred also introduces a new Mythic Unique into the pool of the game’s rarest gear drops. With access to the Horadric Cube, upgrading gear in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred has never been easier, and players can easily take a mediocre weapon and turn it into a powerhouse. However, even transfiguring affixes with the Horadric Cube won’t do much for one classic Diablo 4 Mythic, which has been nerfed to the point of being virtually useless on most builds and is far outclassed by the expansion’s new Mythic.

Mythic Uniques are by and large the best items in Diablo 4, but they are also the rarest. Typically, Mythics are farmed from Lair Bosses on high Torment tiers, or crafted using Resplendent Sparks at the Jeweler. In Diablo 4 Season 13, getting the Doombringer as a Mythic drop is one of the worst options a player can get, especially with the addition of El’druin Sword of Justice in Lord of Hatred.

One of the Best Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred Warlock Builds Basically Turns You into Pac-Man

Diablo 4 players can feel like they’re playing Pac-Man with this powerful Lord of Hatred Warlock build that focuses on devouring enemies.

Doombringer is Basically Worthless in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred

When it comes to finding the best-in-slot gear for a particular Diablo 4 build, Mythics are almost always going to outclass any Legendary or Unique gear the player has. However, there are a couple of Mythics that are underwhelming compared to their counterparts. Nesekem the Herald, which was added in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred, has historically been one of the worst Mythics due to its subpar Unique affix and Spiritborn exclusivity. However, the updates to certain Mythics in Lord of Hatred have pushed the Doombring One-Handed Sword down the rankings significantly.

How the Doombringer Mythic Has Changed in Lord of Hatred

+160 All Stats
+10.0% Damage Reduction
+Lucky Hit: Up to a 5% Chance to Heal +2,687 Life
35.0% Maximum Life

Lucky Hit: Up to a 25% chance to deal 900 Shadow damage to surrounding enemies and reduce their damage dealt by 20% for 5 second.

  • Updated Doombringer Stats

+160 All Stats
10.0% Damage Reduction
+338 Life On Hit
15.0% Maximum Life

Lucky Hit: Up to a 40% chance to deal 1,500 Shadow damage to surrounding enemies and reduce their damage dealt by 25% for 5 seconds.

On the surface, the Doombringer appears to have gotten a buff, since its Unique Affix now has a higher Lucky Hit chance to deal even more Shadow damage and reduces enemy damage dealt by 5% more than before. However, this buff to the Doombringer’s Unique Affix doesn’t make up for the fact that its other affixes were severely nerfed. The Doombringer’s previous +35% Maximum Life increase along with its Lucky Hit chance to heal over 2,000 Life were the main reasons to use this Mythic. Now that those have been decreased significantly, there are essentially no builds that would prefer this Mythic over the El’druin Sword of Justice as a One-Handed Weapon.

The New El’Druin Sword of Justice Mythic Outclasses the Doombringer

Indestructible

+ 200 All Stats
+ 3250 Maximum Life
+ 37.5% All Damage Multiplier
+ 3 to All Skills
Defeating an Elite pack reduces your Skill Cooldowns by 10 seconds for 12 seconds.

Lord of Hatred may have only introduced one new Mythic to Diablo 4‘s roster, but the El’druin Sword of Justice has already become one of the best Mythic weapons in the game. El’druin grants 200 points to all stats, 40 points more than the Doombringer, and the blanket 3250 increase to Maximum Life is comparable to the 15% Maximum Life increase it offers as well. On top of these affixes, El’druin is also Indestructible, so it won’t need to be repaired by Diablo 4‘s Blacksmith when it loses durability upon the player’s death.

However, the most significant advantage that El’druin has over the Doombringer is its Unique Affix. Reducing the Cooldowns of all skills by 10 seconds is huge for builds like the Aura Paladin that rely on skills with Cooldowns, and defeating a pack of Elites is fairly easy when running the Pit or Nightmare Dungeons, giving this Mythic an effect that will trigger often. With this weapon now a possible Mythic drop, the days of slotting a Doombringer into a build’s weapon slot are likely over.
