PlayStation Plus subscribers were expecting some seismic shifts in 2026, but while Sony said it would stop focusing on PlayStation 4, PS4 titles have still been added to the service on a regular basis.
In fact, every single PS Plus Essential and Extra update in 2026 so far has included some PS4 games for those on older hardware to enjoy, so it’s unclear when exactly the shift will happen. It seems like 2026 is actually going to be more business as usual when it comes to PlayStation Plus, with subscribers able to expect three free Essential games every month alongside the titles that are added to the Extra and Premium tiers. That being said, there are times when Sony breaks from its established pattern, and so is the case with the March 2026 free games.

On Tuesday, March 3, PS Plus subscribers can look forward to playing PGA Tour 2K25, Monster Hunter Rise, Slime Rancher 2, and The Elder Scrolls Online Collection: Gold Road. The free PS Plus games for March 2026 are quite the variety of titles, representing a wide range of genres. There are those that have already voiced their disapproval of one of the free PS Plus games being a sports game, but perhaps the other freebies will have broader appeal.
PGA Tour 2K25 launched last year and earned mostly positive reviews in the process, so if you are a fan of golf, it may appeal to you. Monster Hunter Rise, meanwhile, is a smaller-scale game compared to something like Monster Hunter World or Wilds, but it’s still a fully-featured entry in the franchise. Monster Hunter Rise being a part of the free PS Plus games lineup means it should be much easier to get people together for co-op, as no one has to outright buy the game and will be able to play it in its entirety without paying anything beyond what they already do for their subscription.
The PS Plus Extra and Premium games for March 2026 will most likely be revealed on Wednesday, March 11.
Slime Rancher 2 is a cozy farm/life sim game where players manage alien slimes. Like its predecessor, Slime Rancher 2 earned mostly positive reviews and should prove to be a positive addition to the free PS Plus games lineup. Like PGA Tour 2K25, it is a part of a niche genre, but even if you don’t typically like these kinds of games, there’s no harm in giving Slime Rancher 2 a try through your PlayStation Plus subscription.
And finally, there’s The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road. Once PS Plus subscribers claim it, they will be able to access all major Chapter Zones, biomes, and quest arcs in Tamriel, minus what was added as part of the 2025 Content Pass.
