A new PvE mode called Blood Hunt is coming to Marvel Rivals in Season 7.5, and players will get a chance to experience it for themselves on April 23. Launched in 2024 by NetEase Games, Marvel Rivals has found a lot of success with fans of the hero shooter genre. Inspired by games like Overwatch, Marvel Rivals offers a massive cast of playable characters that span decades worth of comics.
Marvel Rivals Season 7 kicked off last month, bringing in White Fox as a playable character. Season 7.5 will debut on April 17, and the game will see the addition of Black Cat, also known as Felicia Hardy. Since the ’70s, Felicia has been one of Spider-Man’s most beloved supporting characters, and she’s even been a love interest for the wall-crawling hero. The character will be a duelist when she makes her Marvel Rivals debut.
Marvel Rivals’ New PvE Mode
On April 23, a brand-new PvE experience will be released in Marvel Rivals, called Blood Hunt. According to NetEase Games, Blood Hunt is arriving earlier than originally anticipated, and it will feature a new storyline. Players will take on four bosses in the mode, but none have been revealed just yet. Dracula seems to be the safest bet, though, based on some of the art shown by the development team. Dracula was a pivotal character in Marvel Rivals Season 1, and the villain played a key role in a 2024 comic storyline also named Blood Hunt. Based on what little has been shown, it’s likely that players will be taking on hordes of vampires when the mode launches.
Marvel Rivals‘ first PvE mode was released late last year, and it seems players can expect some changes from that mode. NetEase says that Blood Hunt will include a new progression and trait system for the heroes, as well as a loot system. Additional details are slim at this time, but with the mode set to be released next week, fans shouldn’t have to wait much longer to learn more.
At a time when many live-service games are struggling to maintain interest, NetEase Games is committed to keeping Marvel Rivals players invested. New content has been added at a steady clip, bolstering the PvP mode that put the game on the map in the first place. However, the developers seem to be aware that some Marvel fans might not want to jump into the competitive aspect of the game. PvE modes allow players to avoid the anxiety that often comes with playing against other people online.

It’s too early to tell whether Blood Hunt will convince newcomers to jump into the game, but last year’s Marvel Zombies PvE mode proved to be a success. NetEase wants Marvel Rivals to move beyond its 6v6 gameplay, and modes that expand the game’s scope could bring in new players after they see movies like Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The brand has a rich history to draw upon, and Marvel Rivals has already crafted its own unique lore. The narrative is often an afterthought in PvP shooters, but the expansion into more PvE content could help Marvel Rivals develop even more of an identity.
