The Pokemon franchise remains as popular as ever, with Nintendo, Game Freak, and The Pokemon Company successfully bringing in new fans with every single generation. A constant flow of new content has cemented its place as an evergreen part of pop culture over the last 30 years. Now, a new Pokemon release has been announced for May 2027 with an enormous $695 price tag, which will likely be too much for many franchise fans to stomach.
The most recent game in the franchise is Pokemon Pokopia, its first-ever attempt at a life-simulator in the vein of Animal Crossing. Pokopia was released in March 2026 to stellar reviews, and five months later, it remains one of the year’s best-reviewed games, with a Top Critic Average of 89 on OpenCritic. It’s not as though Pokemon was in desperate need of a critical and commercial success – the franchise remains one of Nintendo’s biggest system sellers – but fans welcomed the fact that the series took a risk, and it paid off.
Sideshow Pokemon Snorlax Diorama Launches in 2027
Coming via Sideshow Collectibles, fans can officially pre-order a new Snorlax diorama, inspired by the animated appearance of the popular sleepy Pokemon. It features a picnic scene with the Snorlax asleep beneath the branches of a tree next to a lush pond, while around it, other fan-favorite Pokemon also appear, including Eevee, Pikachu, Slowpoke, Skwovet, Greedent, Munchlax, Gulpin, Sewaddle, and Applin. Each individual character has been sculpted with tons of personality, a perfect addition to any Pokemon collection. The Snorlax diorama is currently expected to ship between May 2027 and August 2027, although Sideshow says that this is an estimate, and it could be pushed back further if it’s not ready. It also comes with a hefty $695 price tag, so it’s definitely not cheap.
Despite the expensive $695 cost, it’s not difficult to see why it’s such a pricey Pokemon collectible. The entire diorama is fully sculpted in polystone and features clear cast elements for the pond. It’s a very hefty statue, coming in at 13 inches tall, 13.63 inches wide, and 13.19 inches deep, so no expense is being spared in ensuring this is a premium product for Pokemon collectors. The Sideshow website lists four individuals working on the diorama, with Racel Roubicek designing it, Gabriel Soares and Matias Cabrera sculpting it, and Kat Sapene providing the paintwork as the finishing touch. It gives a good insight into the collaborative effort it takes to bring the statue to life, which helps explain the premium price tag.

Sideshow Collectibles has been a massive force in providing premium collectibles for gamers over the years, and it has plenty in the works for Pokemon fans. As well as the Snorlax diorama, Sideshow is also working on life-size figures of Eevee and Pikachu, both of which are available for pre-order at $530 and $540 respectively, as well as a $640 Charizard statue. These collectibles are not cheap, but they are statement pieces that can really level up a Pokemon collection.
Back in the realm of video games, next year is going to be massive for the Pokemon franchise. Game Freak is planning to release Pokemon‘s Gen 10 in 2027, titled Winds and Waves, although no exact release date has been revealed yet. It’s a massive milestone for the franchise, one that will come with sky-high expectations for the next games in the series.
