New Cyberpunk 2077 Release is Something Completely Unexpected

Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a new arcade racing game named Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush in 2026, as confirmed by CD Projekt Red. Cyberpunk 2077 was initially launched in late 2020, yet it remains a highly popular action title among fans. Over the years, the developer has also launched several updates and spin-off content, along with unexpected crossovers with other video games. It seems CD Projekt Red does not plan on slowing down anytime soon, as the team is bringing the Cyberpunk 2077 experience to more unforeseen, creative formats.

Despite having one of the most infamous releases of recent years, Cyberpunk 2077 has gained a large fanbase. This is in no small part thanks to the developers continuously launching hotfixes to correct bugs and glitches. The game’s popularity was also revitalized in 2023 with the release of its Phantom Liberty DLC, considered one of CD Projekt Red’s best expansions. Additionally, the acclaimed Cyberpunk Edgerunners animated series continues to bring in new fans. CDPR has previously confirmed that a sequel to the game is in the works, though players will likely have to wait a few more years before they get a first look. In the meantime, Cyberpunk 2077 is making a comeback with a new game in the coming months, though not on console or PC.

20 Best Games To Play If You Love Cyberpunk 2077, Ranked

CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 is something special, but fans of the open-world RPG have a few other games they should check out.

Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush Arcade Racing Game Revealed

CD Projekt Red has partnered up with Chinese arcade manufacturer UNIS Technology to create Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush. As seen in an official trailer, the twin cabinet features two motorcycles inspired by the 2020 title. In Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush, players can race and battle each other with guns and melee attacks in a Road Rash style. According to UNIS, the arcade lets players choose from seven characters, including both male and female versions of Cyberpunk 2077‘s lead, V. There are also eight different bike models and four tracks drawn from the original game’s locations, like Corporate Plaza and the Badlands. UNIS also revealed to Arcade Heroes that the Chrome Rush units could start shipping as soon as May 2026.

Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush‘s trailer showcases fast-paced racing gameplay with high jumps and real-time animations. For example, players’ attacks can draw blood from opponents. While it’s still a while before gamers can play Chrome Rush, some fans had the chance to try out the machine at Amusement Expo 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The reveal of Chrome Rush comes just as CD Projekt Red confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will not receive any DLCs in the foreseeable future, which disappointed many players. Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush will launch exclusively in arcades, so not all fans might have the chance to play it.

This is not the first time that CD Projekt Red has released an arcade title. In 2025, the studio teamed up with Australian company LAI Games and SEGA to deliver Cyberpunk 2077: Turf Wars, a multiplayer shooting game. On the other hand, the developer recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund an official Cyberpunk 2077 TCG with WeirdCo. It seems CDPR still sees potential in Cyberpunk 2077 for new products outside consoles and PC. The developer could be on the right track, since it only took five minutes for the TCG campaign to reach its $100,000 goal.

CD Projekt Red may have confirmed that Cyberpunk 2, the project’s temporary title, is already under development, but the company’s current main focus is likely The Witcher 4. However, CDPR still has more major plans for the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. Players can look forward to Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2, which will bring ten new animated episodes. Furthermore, the game is crossing over with Wuthering Waves in 2026, and Fortnite has also teased a second collaboration. Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a PS5 Pro upgrade as well, so fans can expect an enhanced gameplay experience soon.
