New Destiny 3 Event is Officially Happening on June 17

Fans who want to support Destiny 3 can do so on June 17 in a Warframe mission dedicated to Bungie’s IP. The “SaveDestiny” and “WeWantDestiny3” hashtags have been extremely popular on social media platforms after the announcement that Destiny 2 was getting its final update on June 9. Yesterday, on launch day, thousands of fans logged into the game to send a message to Sony and Bungie leadership and show that there are still myriad people who care about Destiny and want the franchise to continue.

As a result, Destiny 2 reached its highest player peak of the last two years with over 167,000 players, surpassing that of the launch day for both Edge of Fate and Renegades combined, and doubling that of Marathon on Steam alone. The support for the franchise is not stopping, and today, there are more than 110,000 concurrent players on Steam. This is also one of the biggest and best updates Destiny 2 has ever gotten, and fans are hoping their actions will help save the game or the franchise. Now, Warframe is officially helping this cause on June 17.

Destiny 2 Players Attempting ‘Server Slam’ to Send a Message to Sony

For the final update, Destiny 2 players are organizing a community server slam to smash Marathon’s concurrent player count and send a message to Sony.

Destiny 2 Players Can Help Save The Franchise in Warframe

Rebecca Ford, Creative Director of Warframe, known as rebb ford on social media, shared a post on Twitter to announce that Warframe will have a free, playable event on June 17 in support of Destiny. Not only that, but the event is rich in significance for Destiny 2 players, as it takes place as an Alert called “Make Your Own Fate” on the planet Telesto. This is a double homage to the game, as Destiny 2‘s Telesto gun has famously broken the game with bugs multiple times, and “Guardians make their own fate” has become a motto for the community.

The phrase originated in Destiny‘s Vault of Glass Raid, as the activity’s main enemy race was the Vex, who base their strategy on simulating their enemies and defeating them once they find their weak spot. However, Guardians are paracausal beings, and they can’t be simulated. This is why “Guardians make their own fate,” as they transcend the Vex’s simulations, and the sentence has been used as a way to defy Sony’s decision to put the franchise down. Rebecca Ford hasn’t shared details about the Warframe Alert just yet, but fans of the Destiny franchise have yet another opportunity to be heard when this event goes live on June 17.

So far, the community has been very vocal. YouTube content creators of the caliber of Aztecross, FalloutPlay, Mactics, and Skarrow9 are promoting the hashtags on social media and their platforms. Bungie devs have been even more present on social media with personal stories and comments about the situation. Voice actors have shared messages for players and in support of the franchise. And on top of that, the official Destiny 3 petition has blown up and has almost 380,000 signatures at the moment.

Whether this support results in Destiny 3 being made or Destiny 2 being continued in some way remains to be seen. However, the Warframe community has shown up time and again for Destiny‘s darkest hour, and the upcoming event in support of the franchise is further proof of that.
