New Farming Simulation Game is Essentially Stardew Valley Set in an Animal Hotel

New Farming Simulation Game is Essentially Stardew Valley Set in an Animal Hotel

When discussing the most impactful indie games of all time, one would be hard-pressed to find a better example than ConcernedApe’s Stardew Valley. Alongside Undertale, Stardew Valley proved that a solo developer can find the same success as an entire studio if their vision is clear enough. Consistent updates, from new Stardew Valley marriage candidates to additional features and character interactions, have kept the game relevant long after its initial release. With this enduring success — Stardew regularly still finds itself at the top of the Steam charts — it’s only natural that games like Pawsome Resort strive to follow in its footsteps.

However, unlike some Stardew Valley-like games that only offer some of what makes that title great, Pawsome Resort takes just about everything from the ConcernedApe classic. Art style and camera perspective, RPG mechanics and HUD elements, farming and crafting — it’s all here, meaning that Stardew fans will undoubtedly feel at home in Pixel Puffs’ game. And as for how it stands apart, the answer is simple: a whole lot of cute and cuddly critters to take care of via the Steam game’s titular resort.

New Open-World Survival Crafting Game on Steam is Stardew Valley Meets Valheim on Floating Islands

For those who love survival crafting games like Valheim, as well as Stardew Valley’s addictive farming, this upcoming Steam game is worth a look.

Pawsome Resort Features at a Glance

  • MANAGE a wide variety of animals, including both household pets and exotic creatures
  • DECORATE your home and office while also designing the ideal habitats for all your animals
  • FARM, FISH, and CRAFT as you live your life in Pebble Town.
  • QUEST to uncover the lore of the town while also befriending and ROMANCING NPCs.
  • EXPERIENCE a charming pixel art world that promises unexpected events and hidden secrets.

Pawsome Resort is a cozy life sim where you run an animal hotel in a charming pixel-art village. Design your resort, care for cute animals, grow crops, craft things, complete quests, and bond with villagers. With farming and RPG elements, it’s a perfect cozy escape.

Pawsome Resort Being ‘Stardew With More Animals’ is a Truly Apt Description

Whether it’s cats and dogs, lions and crocodiles, or pandas and flamingos, the resort you take control of will have no shortage of wildlife to interact with. Designing these habitats to create the perfect living environment for the cute, pixelized critters is sure to bring joy to any cozy game enjoyers who pick up this title. Still, while taking care of animals is the defining trait of this specific Stardew-like, it’s not all that you’ll be doing when you play this charming indie.

When thinking about what makes Stardew Valley tick, there are three things that really shine brightest: NPCs and their associated romancing, day-to-day farming, and questing/exploration. And, sure enough, every single one of these mechanics is present in Pawsome Resort. You’ll get to meet and befriend at least eight NPCs, with a few being potential romance candidates. Their dialogue will be presented just like it is in Stardew Valley, with text boxes and a far more detailed portrait model for each character. Whether the likes of Fiona, Martha, Max, and Joel will have anything comparable to Stardew Valley’s Heart Events is unclear, but the idea of potential romances is certainly exciting.

As for questing and farming, it certainly looks like those aspects are going to be very present. Pebble Town, much like Pelican Town, has a fair bit of lore through completing tasks for the residents. And as for farming, you can expect to dig up some turf for your crops and plant your food, making meals for your pets or getting materials to sell for profit. Additionally, you can customize and decorate not just your home, but your office at the resort, having comfy places to both work and relax.

Pawsome Resort’s Early Access Plans Are Exciting

Like other Steam early access titles, Pawsome Resort buyers can expect some new content to be added as the game evolves. While the early access version will be feature-complete and offers over 25 animal species, a main questline and side quests, a day-night cycle and dynamic weather, decoration, farming, and more, the final version will deepen most mechanics. More complex storylines, additional animals, and extra quests are all planned for the full release, with mini-games, new villagers, and seasonal events being “discussed.” Despite these planned and potential additions, the price won’t be increasing, so players can get Pawsome Resort right away or wait until its full launch in a year to join in on the fun.
