New Kingdom Come Game’s Leaked Title Basically Confirms Its Story

As someone who considers himself the biggest Kingdom Come: Deliverance fan to have ever lived, I wake up every morning hoping to hear more news about the next game in the franchise. So, imagine my excitement when I was greeted today by an apparent leak regarding the next entry’s title, which will supposedly be Kingdom Come: Salvation rather than Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3, just as I initially suspected. Given the way Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 ended, Henry’s story across the first two games, Tom McKay’s seemingly final mocap session for the series, and the fact that Warhorse intentionally called the next game “a new Kingdom Come adventure” when they first announced it, I had a strong feeling the series would pivot in a somewhat drastic way.

However, that doesn’t necessarily mean the next Kingdom Come game won’t see the narrative so far completely disregarded in favor of something brand-new, especially considering Warhorse seems intent on releasing the next entry within the next year or two. What I mean by that, firstly, is that this aim for such a quick turnaround likely means the next Kingdom Come will once again be set in medieval Bohemia, as Warhorse would essentially not be forced to rebuild an entirely new world and would therefore be able to get the game on the shelves much quicker. The other variable to consider, though, is the leaked title itself. If the recently filed trademark that supposedly leaked the title truly does belong to the next Kingdom Come game, then “Salvation” all but confirms its story.

Kingdom Come: Salvation Would Most Likely Be About Saving Wenceslaus

The most obvious explanation for the word “Salvation” is that the next game will most likely be about saving King Wenceslaus, which has technically been the driving force behind the franchise’s overarching political conflict from the very beginning. Henry’s personal journey may have started with the destruction of Skalitz and his desire to avenge his parents, but everything happening around him has been the result of Sigismund imprisoning Wenceslaus, invading Bohemia, and attempting to secure the kingdom for himself. That conflict doesn’t magically disappear at the end of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, either. In fact, the sequel concludes with Wenceslaus still absent and imprisoned, leaving the most important political problem in the series unresolved.

Granted, Henry and company do manage to deal Sigismund a fairly substantial blow before the credits roll. After robbing his silver reserves and rescuing the captured lords from Kuttenberg, the group retreats to Suchdol, survives another siege, and ultimately forces Sigismund and his army to abandon Bohemia for the time being. However, that victory only removes Sigismund from the board temporarily. It doesn’t restore Wenceslaus to the throne, and it certainly doesn’t get him out of captivity. So, while Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 wraps up Henry’s revenge story far more definitively than the first game did, it stops just short of resolving the conflict responsible for that story in the first place.

That would already make saving Wenceslaus a natural direction for the next game, but history makes the setup feel almost too perfect to ignore. Wenceslaus historically escaped his imprisonment in Vienna on November 11, 1403, just months after the historical events Warhorse adapted for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. More importantly, he did so with help from John II of Liechtenstein, who is not some random historical figure Warhorse would need to introduce from scratch. John already plays a major role in Deliverance 2, where Henry warns him about Sigismund’s plans and helps keep him alive. After escaping Vienna, Wenceslaus was escorted through Mikulov, met his supporters in Kuttenberg, and eventually returned to Prague by Christmas. In other words, Warhorse already has the event, the supporting character, and the locations necessary to continue the story almost immediately.

Of course, that doesn’t mean Kingdom Come: Salvation would need to be a straightforward prison-break game, nor does it guarantee Henry would be the one climbing through a window and personally carrying Wenceslaus back to Bohemia. The story could follow John of Liechtenstein, introduce a new protagonist working alongside him, or use the king’s escape as the beginning of a much larger campaign about restoring order to the kingdom. Still, if the leaked title is legitimate, “Salvation” feels far too deliberate to ignore. The first two games may end with Sigismund’s campaign suffering a substantial setback, but Bohemia itself hasn’t yet been saved. Its rightful king remains imprisoned, its political future remains uncertain, and history says Wenceslaus’ escape is right around the corner.

The Hussite Wars Are Still Possible, But Less Likely Now

Before this apparent title leak, my original prediction was that the next Kingdom Come game would jump ahead to the Hussite Wars, and I still think that period would be an almost perfect fit for the series. The conflict erupted after Wenceslaus’ death in 1419 and plunged Bohemia into a much larger religious and political crisis, complete with rival factions, massive battles, and some of the most recognizable figures in Czech history. It would also allow Warhorse to stay in medieval Bohemia while giving the next game a noticeably different atmosphere, as Henry would be older, the political landscape would have changed, and the relatively contained struggle against Sigismund would have grown into something far more chaotic.

However, if the next Kingdom Come adventure really is called Kingdom Come: Salvation, that theory now feels considerably less likely—though certainly not impossible. “Salvation” could easily carry a religious meaning and point toward Jan Hus, the growing reform movement, and the ideological divisions that would eventually lead to the Hussite Wars. At the same time, jumping directly to 1419 would require Warhorse to skip roughly 16 years beyond the end of Deliverance 2, whereas Wenceslaus’ escape from captivity happened only months later and fits the title in a much more immediate, literal way. The Hussite Wars could still be where the franchise is ultimately headed, but “Salvation” now looks more like the bridge that gets it there than the game that finally puts players in the middle of it.

At the end of the day, Kingdom Come: Salvation is still only an apparent title leak, so there is every chance Warhorse could come along and make this entire theory look ridiculous. Still, when the first two Kingdom Come games leave Wenceslaus imprisoned, introduce the very man who historically helped him escape, and conclude only months before that escape actually happened, “Salvation” feels like far more than a random subtitle. It sounds like the natural continuation of the story Warhorse has already been telling, even if Henry is no longer the one at the center of it.

I would still love to see the series eventually make its way to the Hussite Wars, and I have a hard time believing Warhorse will ignore that period forever, but saving Wenceslaus now seems like the far more immediate destination. Whatever the case may be, the fact that one leaked word has already sent me this far down the historical rabbit hole is exactly why I love this franchise as much as I do. Now, I just need Warhorse to hurry up and tell me whether I am completely right or spectacularly wrong.
