New Management Game on Steam Turns Dispatch’s Gameplay Loop Up to 11

New Management Game on Steam Turns Dispatch’s Gameplay Loop Up to 11

Ever since playing through the first season of Dispatch, I haven’t been able to get its core gameplay loop out of my head. I’m not talking about the choice-driven narrative part. That aspect of the game was excellent, don’t get me wrong, but I found myself falling in love with its dispatch management gameplay loop that saw me sending out my team of misfits every day to deal with various problems throughout the city. For me, the numbers, the strategy, all of it just clicked—and I’ve since been hungry for more. Fortunately, it seems a game has emerged on Steam that could satisfy that craving, and it even has a playable demo that can whet my appetite for it.

Global Rescue is a management sim by City Bus Manager developer PeDePe GbR that sees players building and operating their own emergency services base. From there, they “take on the thrilling day-to-day operations of various first responder units” by tackling issues like fires, traffic accidents, medical emergencies, and more, all from the comfort of their gaming chair. Essentially, it’s Dispatch without the drama, perfect for those who want more of what that part of the game offers. Global Rescue entered Steam Early Access on April 27, 2026 and has already managed to achieve a Very Positive rating. Now if I can just somehow convince the developer to give us some of that sweet 80s infomercial music that plays during a shift in Dispatch, I’ll be sold.

New Steam Game Lets You Build Zelda-Style Dungeons

A new game releasing on Steam gives players the ability to build their own dungeons inspired by the Zelda franchise’s Nintendo 64 games.

Global Rescue Is Like Dispatch Without the Drama

Global Rescue puts you in charge of an emergency response operation where every piece has to work at the same time. You choose a real-world city, build out your headquarters, hire staff, and maintain a fleet of police, fire, EMS, and SWAT units that are ready to deploy at any moment. From there, the game becomes a constant balancing act, sending units to active calls while keeping enough resources in reserve for whatever comes next. Incidents don’t wait their turn, and small problems can spiral if they aren’t handled quickly. There’s no narrative pulling things along either. It’s all about trying to keep the whole system from collapsing when everything starts piling up at once.

Global Rescue’s Core Features

  • DISPATCH MANAGEMENT LOOP – Assign units to emergencies as situations unfold in real time.
  • MULTI-AGENCY CONTROL – Command police, fire, EMS, and SWAT simultaneously.
  • REAL-WORLD CITIES – Operate in any location using authentic global map data.
  • BASE BUILDING – Design and expand headquarters to support growing operations.
  • STAFF MANAGEMENT – Hire, train, and maintain readiness across all departments.
  • VEHICLE DEPLOYMENT – Build and dispatch a fleet of specialized emergency vehicles.
  • ESCALATING INCIDENTS – Handle emergencies that grow, spread, and overlap over time.
  • RESEARCH UPGRADES – Unlock new capabilities through progression and system expansion.

While its Dispatch-like gameplay loop sounds like a great time, Global Rescue‘s standout feature is, without a doubt, the fact that you can choose a real-world city to operate from. The game uses accurate Overture Map data to generate its own maps, allowing you to choose your location from anywhere in the world, even if it’s your own hometown. For some of us, that might not result in anything too stellar, but it’s still a really innovative way to increase immersion in a game like this.

Global Rescue Takes Dispatch’s Gameplay to Another Level of Management

Global Rescue isn’t just an endless Dispatch shift, though. When you’re not responding to emergencies, you’ll be busy building your base and furnishing it with a variety of objects and furniture to give it a personal touch. This is where you’ll keep your emergency vehicles in tip-top shape for future missions, ensuring there are enough wash bays, parking spots, garages, and fuel stations available for them. There are also 23 different vehicle types available to choose from, including American, European, and Asian. Your base can also be expanded further by unlocking upgrades in the game’s research tree.

Then, inside your headquarters, you’ll need to take good care of your staff with enough office spaces, break rooms, and sanitation facilities to keep them operating at maximum efficiency. They’ll need good training, too, if you hope to succeed once you start responding to emergencies. Surely they won’t be as difficult to manage as the superheroes of Dispatch‘s highly dysfunctional Z-Team, though. Once everything is taken care of back at base, you can start responding to emergencies that escalate over time and make the management side of things increasingly challenging to juggle.

Global Rescue’s Early Access Plans

  • COMMUNITY-DRIVEN DEVELOPMENT – Shape features and updates directly through player feedback.
  • EARLY ACCESS TIMELINE – Planned 1–2 years, flexible based on progress.
  • FEATURE EXPANSION PLANS – Full version to add systems, mechanics, and depth.
  • CONTENT GROWTH ROADMAP – Ongoing updates guided by player priorities.
  • FEEDBACK INTEGRATION SYSTEM – In-game tools for reporting issues and suggestions.
  • PLAYER VOTING INPUT – Community can support ideas to influence development focus.
  • MOD SUPPORT AT LAUNCH – Steam Workshop enabled for missions, vehicles, skins.
  • REGULAR CONTENT UPDATES – New features and improvements planned throughout development.
  • PRICE INCREASE POSSIBILITY – Cost may rise as scope and content expand.

Currently, Global Rescue is in Steam Early Access, and it looks like it could be for the next year or two. However, its Early Access roadmap is heavily reliant upon community involvement, with the developer aiming to continue developing the game alongside player feedback over time. The current version already includes a fully playable foundation with a large pool of missions, vehicles, and mod support through the Steam Workshop, but that’s only the beginning. Over the course of Early Access, the focus will be on expansion in the form of new mechanics and an increase in the overall depth of the experience, with updates guided by what players respond to and request most.

The team does expect Global Rescue to remain in Early Access for roughly one to two years, though that window is flexible depending on how development progresses and how the community responds. Feedback will be gathered through multiple channels, including Steam Discussions, Discord, and an in-game reporting system that allows players to submit and support ideas directly. Those suggestions are meant to play a role in determining future updates, with the most popular requests ultimately being what gets prioritized next, should the developer choose to move forward with them. As the game grows throughout Steam Early Access, the developer has also indicated that a price increase closer to its full release is likely.

If I haven’t said and implied it enough already, Global Rescue feels like the kind of follow-up I’ve been waiting for since finishing Season 1 of Dispatch. That loop of sending units out and trying to stay ahead is still here, but now it looks like it’s been dialed up. Every decision feels like it matters because there’s more attached to it, and that’s what I know is probably going to hook me in the end. It’s still early, and there’s clearly more to come, but if that part of Dispatch stuck with you in the same way it did with me, Global Rescue looks like a pretty easy recommendation.

Global Rescue is currently in Early Access on Steam, with a playable demo available for download.
