New Marvel Cosmic Invasion DLC Shadow Dropped

Dotemu and Tribute Games have just announced that Marvel Cosmic Invasion is receiving its very first paid DLC, and it arrives today. This DLC will cost $3.99 and will add two new playable heroes to Marvel Cosmic Invasion: the X-Men’s Cyclops and Fantastic Four’s The Thing.

A throwback beat-em-up inspired by the beloved Marvel arcade games of the early 1990s, Marvel Cosmic Invasion made its way to PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch back in December of last year. Upon its debut, Marvel Cosmic Invasion was met with a very warm reception from critics, with the game currently sitting at a Top Critic Average of 81 on OpenCritic. GameRant’s own Nick Rodriguez gave Marvel Cosmic Invasion an 8/10 in his review, calling it “one of the best arcade throwback titles of the past several years.”

How to Unlock All Characters in Marvel Cosmic Invasion

There are four unlockable characters in Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and this guide details exactly how players can gain access to them.

This DLC will launch simultaneously for all platforms, which include PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, and Xbox Series X/S. For $3.99, players will gain access to two new playable heroes who both come with their own very distinctive movesets and highly-detailed animations.

A true fan-favorite, Cyclops makes up one half of Marvel Cosmic Invasion‘s first DLC. As should be expected, Marvel Cosmic Invasion‘s Cyclops relies on his optic blasts to get the job done, with his moveset consisting of powerful forward, downward, and upward blasts. Cyclops’ moveset also comes with a handy ‘Vertical Strike’ attack which should let players take down Marvel Cosmic Invasion‘s many flying enemies a whole lot quicker. Cyclops’ ‘Overpowered’ passive ability encourages a fast playstyle, with the hero’s optic blasts gaining more damage for each consecutive attack.

Described as a “grappling-focused powerhouse,” Marvel Cosmic Invasion‘s first DLC also introduces The Thing to its growing roster. As his description suggests, The Thing’s moveset revolves around grabbing an enemy and clobbering them, as well as tackling opponents out of the sky and charging head first into battle. The Thing’s ‘Rock Solid’ passive ability aids that latter attack, with it granting the hero’s sprint attack armor so that it lasts longer.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion is Getting A Second DLC Later This Year

Along with shadow-dropping Cyclops and The Thing, Dotemu and Tribute Games have also announced that Marvel Cosmic Invasion will get a second paid DLC in fall 2026. This DLC will add “even more playable characters” to the roster and will bring an all-new game mode to the retro-inspired beat-em-up. It’s currently unclear exactly how many characters will be added with this DLC or who those characters will be, or what this new game mode will entail. Dotemu and Tribute have also confirmed that Marvel Cosmic Invasion has reached 1.5 million players since its launch last December.
