New Multiplayer Steam Soulslike Blends Elden Ring With ARC Raiders

New Multiplayer Steam Soulslike Blends Elden Ring With ARC Raiders

Steam users have a brand-new multiplayer Soulslike to enjoy, named Mistfall Hunter, coming from developer Bellring Games. Mistfall Hunter blends Soulslike elements with multiplayer extraction gameplay in the vein of ARC Raiders to create something extremely unique, and it is already enjoying significant player count numbers on Steam.

The benefit of a game like Mistfall Hunter coming from a smaller developer/publisher duo like Bellring Games and Skystone Games is that it gets to take more risks. With bigger AAA games, the risk factor is often foregone in favor of something that feels more familiar. It makes each game a safer bet, sure, which makes sense in the world of massive-budget titles. But this can also kill the potential for innovation. Naturally, there are exceptions to this idea, but it could definitely be argued that the most innovative games are made by smaller developers, with ideas that translate to AAA titles further down the line.

New Steam Co-Op Horror Party Game is Already a Hit with 89% Very Positive Reviews

A brand-new co-op horror party game on Steam has launched to very positive reviews, the latest in the genre to blow up on the platform.

Check Out Mistfall Hunter on Steam Now

Gamers can head over to Steam right now to check out Mistfall Hunter, a dark fantasy extraction ARPG. Players can choose to go it solo or party up with two friends, picking from six distinct classes with deep talent trees to build into. Featuring PvPvE combat, players must scavenge, fight, and extract, a similar gameplay loop found in extraction shooters like ARC Raiders. However, this is complemented with a distinct fantasy aesthetic reminiscent of Elden Ring. The comparisons don’t stop there – its skill-based positional combat is extremely Soulslike-esque, earning it the equivalent user tag on Steam. Even if it’s not a classic Soulslike in the most rigid of definitions, the way it uses elements of the genre as inspiration to create something new is great.

On Steam, player reviews for Mistfall Hunter currently sit at “Mostly Positive.” Reviews praise the genre hybrid, impressive graphics, and satisfying gameplay, while there was also some criticism about laggy servers, class balance, and the fact that there is a very limited number of maps available, making for occasionally repetitive gameplay. The good news is that the core gameplay at the heart of Mistfall Hunter is really working for players right now, meaning its most egregious issues can be solved in future updates.

Mistfall Hunter Key Features

  • PvPvE extraction gameplay
  • Soulslike-inspired combat with free-aim
  • Dark fantasy aesthetic
  • Six classes with deep talent trees
  • Play solo or multiplayer (three-player squads)
  • No pay-to-win mechanics
  • Seasons

Thanks to its solid reviews and enticing core concept, Mistfall Hunter is already enjoying strong player count numbers on Steam. According to SteamDB, its peak concurrent player count currently sits at 43,741, and has been steadily rising since its initial release on July 29. If it keeps up this momentum, it could go even higher than this. Luckily, it has an introductory discount on Steam of 10% until August 12, bringing it down to just $22.49 and making it a perfect time to jump in and try Mistfall Hunter. It’s worth noting that the game is also available on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 (as well as on Xbox Game Pass), with developer Bellring Games already boasting over 500,000 players on all platforms so far.

Steam has no shortage of unique titles ready and waiting for gamers to try. The platform has tons of new releases every single day, and no one has the time to try them all. It can be difficult for smaller games to stand out from the crowd in the current market, which is why it’s always worth paying attention when one does manage to cut through the noise.
