New Official Attack on Titan Release Gets Encouraging Update

It’s looking increasingly likely that franchise fans aren’t going to have to wait too much longer for Attack on Titan 3. Attack on Titan 3 was unveiled to the world at Summer Game Fest, with the upcoming game serving as the third entry in the home console AoT games. But whereas those previous two games were somewhat limited in scope compared to the overall story, Attack on Titan 3 will reportedly retell the entire saga from start to finish.

Attack on Titan 3‘s reveal trailer showed scenes from throughout the anime, including major moments from the final season. The previous Attack on Titan video games were relatively well-received, especially compared to many other licensed games, so fans are excited to relive the story and its jaw-dropping ending in video game form. A release date has not been announced at the time of this writing, but a recent development suggests that Attack on Titan 3 will be launching sooner rather than later.

Attack On Titan: Every Titan And Their Special Ability

The nine titans in Attack on Titan all possess signature abilities that make each of them formidable.

Attack on Titan 3 ESRB Rating

Attack on Titan 3 has received an “M” rating from the ESRB for Blood and Gore, Language, Partial Nudity, and Violence. The ESRB rating details some of the violence that will be in the video game, including the ability to cut off titan limbs, which will sometimes include slow-motion blood-splatter. Severed human limbs and heads are also depicted in the game, plus, like the show and manga, the titans are effectively naked. While this is all expected from anyone familiar with the source material, the takeaway is that the game is far enough in development to get its ESRB rating. While there are exceptions to the rule, most of the time, games don’t get their ratings until they are relatively close to release, meaning it’s possible that the Attack on Titan 3 release date is right around the corner.

In fact, it’s not out of the question for the game to be a shadow drop, though fans should certainly keep their expectations in check. The next time we will hear about Attack on Titan 3 is on July 1, where the game will be shown off via a special Scouting Report presentation. The presentation is likely going to focus mostly on showing off the various gameplay features that fans can look forward to in Attack on Titan 3, but a release date announcement could also be a part of the show. If the game isn’t shadow dropped on July 1, fans can expect it to release not too long after the event, whether that’s a matter of weeks or months.

Attack on Titan fans anxious to experience a video game based on the franchise may want to tide themselves over by checking out some of the previous games. Console gamers have Attack on Titan 3‘s two predecessors to play, both of which received mostly positive reviews from critics. Both Attack on Titan home console games even have multiplayer support, so you can play them with friends if you so desire.

Those with a compatible virtual reality headset may also want to try the Attack on Titan VR game, Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable. It’s a first-person Attack on Titan game that, like the console games, has been mostly well-received, so franchise fans have a variety of options when it comes to playing an AoT game.
