New Official DC Fighting Game Finally Confirmed for 2027

Few superhero fighting games have built the kind of following that Injustice: Gods Among Us and Injustice 2 have. NetherRealm’s DC franchise became a favorite thanks to its cinematic story modes, massive roster, and satisfying fighting mechanics, with Injustice 2 in particular becoming one of the studio’s biggest successes. Nearly a decade later, though, one question still hangs over the franchise: where is Injustice 3? Every few months, fans whip themselves into a frenzy thinking NetherRealm is teasing the game just for nothing to manifest.

Said uncertainty has only become more noticeable as NetherRealm broke from perceived development patterns and shifted its focus to Mortal Kombat, leaving DC fans waiting for any sign that the series might return. Rumors and wish lists have circulated for years, but an official third game has never materialized. While this is not the Injustice 3 announcement many fans have been hoping for, DC is finally getting another fighting game, and it has now been officially confirmed for a 2027 release.

DCKO Clearly Beat Injustice 3 to the Punch

Developer Drop Fake has announced DCKO, a new officially licensed DC fighting game coming to iOS and Android in 2027. DCKO centers around fast-paced 2-on-2 tag battles featuring iconic DC heroes and villains. Players will be able to build teams that include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Robin, Constantine, Nightwing, and more, with the game featuring both single-player PvE content and, for the first time in a DC mobile fighter, real-time PvP multiplayer.

  • 2-on-2 tag team battles featuring DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains.
  • Real-time PvP multiplayer, a first for a DC mobile fighting game.
  • Single-player story content with PvE missions and character progression.
  • Character upgrades through new abilities, stat boosts, and team customization.
  • Playable roster including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Robin, Constantine, Nightwing, and more.
  • Neo-Comic visual style inspired directly by DC comic books.
  • Iconic arenas like the Batcave, Themyscira, and the Lazarus Pits.
  • Unlockable costumes inspired by DC’s long comic book history.

Outside of competitive multiplayer, DCKO also features a dedicated PvE mode where players battle threats including Ra’s al Ghul’s League of Assassins, Amazo’s robotic army, and Trigon’s demonic forces. Completing those missions rewards currency and experience that can be used to strengthen characters before taking them into online matches. The game’s tag-based combat also emphasizes team composition, letting players pair heavy hitters like Superman with faster combo-focused fighters depending on their preferred strategy.

While many DC fans will undoubtedly continue hoping Injustice 3 eventually becomes reality, DCKO at least gives the franchise another superhero fighting game to look forward to after years of silence. Its focus on live PvP, tag-team mechanics, and long-term character progression gives it a different identity from NetherRealm’s console series, even if it scratches a similar itch. With pre-registration already live ahead of an upcoming beta, DC’s newest fighter is officially on the way, with a full launch planned for 2027.
