While there hasn’t been a brand-new Mass Effect game since Andromeda in 2017, fans are searching for anything new they can find from the series. There is good news on the horizon, with two new Mass Effect releases to look forward to in 2027 being recently announced.
It’s quite incredible how Mass Effect has enjoyed continued relevance for almost two decades now, despite so few releases in recent years. Aside from Mass Effect: Andromeda, 2021’s Legendary Edition (a re-release of the original trilogy and remaster of the first game) remains the most recent video game release in the series. Even Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s lukewarm reception hasn’t been able to dim excitement for the future of the series.

Mass Effect EDI and Thane Figures Drop in 2027
As per Dark Horse Direct, two new Mass Effect figures are officially on the way in 2027. The company has announced faithful PVC recreations of EDI and Thane Krios, standing at 8.6 and 8.75 inches tall, respectively. Both figures depict their characters’ appearance throughout the Mass Effect trilogy, with EDI only appearing physically in the third game. The level of detail on both is incredible, and can really be seen on Thane in particular, capturing the different textures on his clothing in pretty stunning fashion.
Of the two, Thane is arguably more of a fan favorite, but both are among the less central characters in the Mass Effect series. It’s great to see them brought to life like this. Both PVC figures will cost $59.99 each, and are expected to be released in January-February 2027.
Dark Horse Direct has been an excellent source of great video game figures for a while now, with plenty of brands under its banner, including the likes of Borderlands, Cyberpunk, Halo, and more. Just recently, Dark Horse even announced a new Fallout figure set to release around the same time as Thane and EDI. It’s great to have options, and equally, it’s cool that the Dark Horse figures are pretty affordable given their quality.

News on the upcoming Mass Effect 5 has been difficult to come by. The game has been in development for years now, with the first teaser trailer arriving back in December 2020. Still, very little is known about it at this point. Mass Effect 5‘s director recently confirmed that work on the game is ongoing, a good sign that things continue to tick along in the background. Despite this, fans should not expect a release date for the game any time soon.
