MachineGames, Bethesda, and Modiphius are teaming up to create Wolfenstein: The Roleplaying Game, a brand-new, officially licensed tabletop RPG based on the beloved first-person shooter franchise. Wolfenstein: The Roleplaying Game has recently received its own page on the crowdfunding site GameFound, and pledges will go live sometime in Fall 2026.
The Wolfenstein franchise hasn’t received a new mainline entry in almost a decade, but a new one could be on the horizon. After a NoClip documentary featuring a MachineGames developer saying the team is “not done” with Wolfenstein aired in September 2025, fans have been convinced another mainline entry is on the way. These theories have been supported by several rumors and leaks from earlier this year, with several sources claiming that another Wolfenstein game is in development at MachineGames, and one claiming that a casting call has already been sent out. Neither MachineGames nor Bethesda have officially confirmed that another Wolfenstein video game is currently in development, but at least fans will have a tabletop RPG to play soon.
A New Wolfenstein TTRPG Is On The Way
Announced in March and then listed on GameFound at the start of July, Wolfenstein: The Roleplaying Game will see players create their own distinct resistance fighter and face off against the Nazi forces in Wolfenstein‘s alternate history version of 1960s America. There’s currently no release date for Wolfenstein: The Roleplaying Game, but fans will be able to back the project on GameFound sometime in Fall 2026.

Wolfenstein: The Roleplaying Game is being developed by Modiphius Entertainment, a renowned tabletop publisher that’s created a plethora of beloved TTRPGs over the years, including ones based on Star Trek, Fallout, Skyrim, and Mass Effect. Though details are still a little scarce, Modiphius has confirmed that Wolfenstein: The Roleplaying Game will use the company’s ‘2d20’ gameplay engine, which essentially sees players rolling two 20-sided dice simultaneously and comparing their rolls to the numbers attached to their character’s skill sheet.
In an interview GamesRadar back in April, Modiphius Lead Game Designer Evie Moriarty teased some of the special additions and tweaks Wolfenstein: The Roleplaying Game is making to the tried-and-tested 2d20 RPG system. One particularly intriguing feature is the “I AM PREPARED TO DIE” mechanic, which lets a player fully regain their health, refill their momentum, and gain an instant upgrade all at the cost of the next death being permanent. This unique mechanic is accompanied by a special “crisis” mechanic that increases the moment-to-moment challenge of gameplay.

This isn’t the first time Wolfenstein has received an official tabletop adaptation. Back in 2022, Archon released Wolfenstein: The Board Game, a tabletop dungeon crawler that sees players suit up as B.J. Blazkowiz and storm the titular Nazi-controlled castle to take out Hitler himself. Much like the upcoming Wolfenstein: The Roleplaying Game, Archon’s Wolfenstein board game was directly inspired by MachineGames’ Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus.
