Blind Descent, a brand-new open-world survival game with four-player co-op, has been confirmed for an early access release on Steam in December 2026. Blind Descent follows a group of expeditioners tasked with searching Mars for lost team members. However, their journey quickly turns into a fight for survival and adaptation. While Blind Descent is exclusive to PC, Steam isn’t its only storefront, as the game will also launch on the Epic Games Store and GOG.
One aspect of Blind Descent‘s trailers that has caught people’s attention is its art style and creature design, which are reminiscent of the acclaimed animated series Scavengers Reign. Blind Descent also features a unique “infection system” that makes the Martian environment react to players’ actions. The world will constantly try to reclaim the land and regenerate itself by consuming newly built structures, forcing players to maintain their base if they don’t want it to disappear.
Blind Descent Launches in Steam Early Access on December 2
Developer Pokuch has confirmed that open-world survival game Blind Descent will enter early access on Steam on December 2, 2026. The early access version will feature base-building, exploration, core survival elements, and parts of the story. However, development will continue toward the 1.0 release, with the team set to complete the campaign while adding new biomes, creatures, and gameplay mechanics. Blind Descent is currently expected to remain in early access for about a year, but this plan could change based on player feedback.
What to Expect from Blind Descent
As a co-op survival game, Blind Descent lets up to four players explore its world, gather resources, and build a base. However, its setting is rather distinctive, as the game takes place 10 miles below the Martian surface. Blind Descent also introduces a mutation system that allows survivors to form a symbiotic relationship with the world. Players can choose to become part of the Martian underground, gaining new abilities and changing their appearance. However, as with most games, Blind Descent‘s mutations likely come with their own downsides.

Blind Descent lets players craft primitive weapons and make them deadlier through upgrades.
According to Emrehan Şeyihoğlu, the game’s co-producer and project director, Blind Descent will have a story that lasts 10 to 15 hours. Most of the storytelling will rely on environmental clues, encouraging players to explore the uncharted lands of Mars. Combat also plays a role in the experience. Like many other open-world survival games set in hostile lands, Blind Descent lets players craft primitive weapons and make them deadlier through upgrades. As for enemies, players will mostly face alien animals that come in all shapes and sizes.
Blind Descent has been dubbed by some fans as Subnautica meets The Forest, which sounds like an intriguing mix on paper. That premise has also helped the game reach some early milestones ahead of launch. For example, Blind Descent has surpassed 300,000 wishlists on Steam, an impressive achievement for a small indie team. The game is currently accepting sign-ups for its next playtest, giving survival game fans a chance to try it for free and decide whether they want to pick it up on December 2, when it enters early access.
