The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake already has some post-launch content confirmed, and it will be made available at some point in 2027. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has released for the Nintendo Switch 2 to widespread critical acclaim. In fact, Zelda: Ocarina of Time is currently the highest-rated new game release of 2026 so far, with an incredible 96 overall rating.
The Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is now in the top 30 highest-rated games ever made, and so it’s little surprise that fans may already be craving more. While it’s safe to say that most Zelda fans have yet to roll credits, even if they know Ocarina of Time like the back of their hand, they may still be looking forward to excuses to return to the game. No substantial DLC or expansion has been announced for the Ocarina of Time remake, but there is at least some new content for fans to look forward to in 2027.
Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Amiibo Figures Unlock New Masks
It’s been confirmed that the Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will add new masks to the game based on the Nintendo 64 original. One mask is styled to mimic Link’s face as it appeared in the N64 original, and the other is meant to resemble Princess Zelda’s N64 design. To unlock these masks, Zelda: Ocarina of Time players will have to buy new amiibo figures. The Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo figures are both slated to release in 2027, but specific release dates have yet to be announced. We do know that the figures will cost $24.99 apiece, so those that want both will have to shell out $50 minimum. Needless to say, those are some pretty expensive in-game masks for the Ocarina of Time remake.
Ocarina of Time remake players can scan older Zelda amiibo figures to get random free consumable items once per day.
Hardcore Zelda fans that want to unlock the new Ocarina of Time masks, or simply want to collect more of the franchise’s amiibo figures, may run into some trouble. At the time of this writing, the Ocarina of Time amiibo figures are completely sold out, and it’s unclear when they will be restocked. One has to imagine that Nintendo will replenish the supply of the figures at some point down the line, but specifics to that end have yet to be announced.
While some Zelda fans will no doubt be excited about the Ocarina of Time remake amiibo figures and their associated masks, others may be more concerned about a potential expansion or more substantial DLC. Nothing to that effect has been announced just yet, but since the Ocarina of Time remake doesn’t have the Master Quest mode, perhaps that could be something added in a post-launch update or as part of premium DLC. It would make sense, and would go a long way in really solidifying the Switch 2 version of Ocarina of Time as the truly definitive way to experience the classic game.
Time will tell what Nintendo has in store for the future of the Zelda franchise. Considering the dizzying hype surrounding the Ocarina of Time remake, though, one has to imagine that more remakes in a similar vein are definitely a possibility alongside the inevitable brand-new releases.
