New Pokemon Release Features 140 New Creatures and Ancient Greece Region

New Pokemon Release Features 140 New Creatures and Ancient Greece Region

An upcoming Pokemon release is taking inspiration from Ancient Greece and will be introducing 140 new creatures in the process. One of the most exciting things about a new Pokemon game is seeing the new creatures that are being introduced to the world. Since the original 151 debuted back in the 90s, the number of Pokemon has ballooned to over 1,000, with more official new creatures expected to be added next year.

Nintendo, Game Freak, and The Pokemon Company will be releasing Pokemon Winds and Waves for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, with the presumed release window being some time late next year. Prior to Pokemon Winds and Waves‘ official reveal, speculation pointed to the games being based on Greece, but it turns out their new region is actually inspired by Southeast Asia. Fans that were looking forward to a Pokemon region based on Greece may want to pay close attention to an upcoming fan project.

Pokemon Winds and Waves Leaks 7 Brand-New Pokemon

A new Pokemon Winds and Waves leak surfaces online, showing for the first time ever seven new Gen 10 Pokemon.

Pokemon Victory’s Region is Inspired by Ancient Greece

Developed by Pinnari, Pokemon Victory features an art style similar to Pokemon Gold and Silver, an open world structure, and 140 new Pokemon. The old Pokemon featured in the fan game will also have original sprites. Images of the project shared by Pinnari on Reddit show some of the new Pokemon that will be featured in Pokemon Victory, including the starter trio and what appears to be a Legendary cyclops Pokemon. Pinnari doesn’t have a demo to share just yet, but more information on that front should come to light the further the project gets along.

Instead of using a traditional gym format for progression, Pokemon Victory will challenge players to complete the Poke Olympics. 10 different events will be featured as part of the Poke Olympics, though specifics on that are unavailable at the time of this writing. Main series Pokemon games have occasionally strayed away from the traditional gym battle format, and it’s always interesting to see a new take on progression.

Pokemon Victory should make for an interesting detour for those that enjoy fan-made Pokemon games, but those most interested in official entries should have plenty to look forward to in the next couple of years. The next major Pokemon release is Pokemon Pokopia‘s Bubbly Basin DLC, which is adding a brand-new underwater town for players to explore alongside a free update that will give them the Dive ability. Pokopia‘s Bubbly Basin DLC is one of three expansions in store for the game, with a second one dropping later this year, and the third and final one releasing in early 2027.

And then, of course, there’s Pokemon Winds and Waves. Reliable leaks suggest Pokemon Winds and Waves won’t get any updates this year, and so the next time fans can expect more info on the games is likely Pokemon Day 2027, aka February 27, 2027. At that point, fans should be treated to a new Pokemon Winds and Waves trailer that reveals more of the new Pokemon that will be added alongside other gameplay details, especially if the games are releasing late-2027 as expected.
