Derelikt is a first-person sci-fi shooter with the same low-poly look as late-90s horror games, and it launches on Steam in November 2026. Developed by Polish solo developer Visuwyg, Derelikt takes place aboard a remote spaceship, drawing inspiration from games like Doom 3 and System Shock 2. The game released a free demo on Steam in early October, which has over 90% positive reviews at the time of writing.
Creator Visuwyg says Derelikt is “inspired by the mood and structure of System Shock 2, Alien Resurrection, Doom 3, and Silent Hill.” This is clear from the opening moments, as players are introduced to an alien invasion story and begin exploring dark, claustrophobic corridors that have become hallmarks of these horror genre masterpieces.

In Derelikt, players find themselves trapped in the Von Neumann Outpost, a research facility orbiting Saturn. As a retro-style first-person shooter, the game revolves mainly around exploring different parts of the massive space station and taking down hostile enemies. However, the developer explains that inventory management and puzzle-solving will also play a role in the gameplay. Derelikt is also poised to offer immense replay value through its backtracking mechanics.
Derelikt hides some areas and gear behind destructible walls or locked doors that require the right equipment to open.
Developer Visuwyg says, “Exploration in Derelikt isn’t always about pushing forward. Sometimes, getting new gear means realizing there’s a good reason to head back.” More specifically, the game lets players revisit areas they have already cleared, where they may find new items or paths. Fans of classic shooter games are likely familiar with the concept, but Derelikt hides some areas and gear behind destructible walls or locked doors that require the right equipment to open.

As for combat, Derelikt adds inventory management to make fights more intense. Players must make meaningful choices about what to carry and what to leave behind, while ammo remains scarce. Fans of retro-style FPS games may also appreciate the mix of realistic and alien weapons. However, the developer stresses that Derelikt “is not a power fantasy corridor shooter,” meaning players must take a tactical approach to survive its dangers.
Derelikt also features a cast of NPCs, each with a distinct personality and motives, according to the developer. Players learn much of the story through conversations with these crew members, though apparently not all of them can be trusted. The game’s dialogues are text-based and let players choose their responses, but it remains unclear how much these choices affect the story. Derelikt also offers little hand-holding, so players must uncover most details by talking to others and exploring.
