Some PlayStation 5 users have a problem with the upcoming DualSense Wireless Controller based on 007 First Light. The upcoming 007 First Light PS5 controller is scheduled to launch alongside the new James Bond game.
As the successor to Sony’s iconic DualShock Controller lineup, the DualSense Wireless Controller has some key features that make it stand out. These features include adaptive triggers that can change how firing a weapon feels during key moments, and a light bar alongside the touchpad that can be used as an indicator for health or other statistics. The DualSense Wireless Controller has also received some feature updates since its arrival, with functions like multi-pairing made possible via PS5 firmware releases from Sony.
PlayStation’s Next State of Play Narrowed Down by Insider
A trusted insider narrows down a potential window for PlayStation to host its next State of Play, which could arrive much sooner than anticipated.
The 007 First Light DualSense Controller Is Missing The Films’ Iconic Swirls
Though Sony has released several unique designs of the DualSense Controller to match specific games, an upcoming controller is already drawing the ire of some fans. On the Gaming subreddit, a Redditor named OrganicKeynesianBean stated that the design of the 007 First Light Limited Edition DualSense Wireless Controller is “wrong.” OrganicKeynesianBean said that the “rifling,” which is the swirl pattern from the James Bond movies’ iconic gun barrel opener, are missing from the new DualSense controller. Despite Sony stating that the controller was meant to invoke a recognizable visual signature that the James Bond franchise is known for, OrganicKeynesianBean stated that they were immediately bothered by the controller’s design. In response, some Reddit users concurred with OrganicKeynesianBean, with one user calling the 007 DualSense controller’s design “wack.”
Rather than the rifling swirls of a gun barrel, which appear throughout various James Bond films, the 007 First Light DualSense Wireless Controller has straight lines that emerge from the touchpad. The 007 franchise logo is shown in the middle of the touchpad, and the 007 First Light tagline of “Earn The Number” is engraved on the backside. The controller has a golden color throughout the grip and the touchpad, with black buttons and thumb sticks. Functionally, the 007 First Light Limited Edition DualSense Wireless Controller is the same as other PS5 controllers. The 007 First Light controller will go on sale on Wednesday, May 27, the same day that the upcoming James Bond game releases on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
The controller has a starting MSRP of $84.99, though quantities will be limited. Sony stated that pre-orders of the upcoming 007 First Light controller will go live on Friday, April 17, at 10:00 AM local time via PlayStation Direct and participating retailers. Sony clarified that the exact launch date and controller availability may differ by country or region.

Despite the controversy surrounding the new controller, 007 First Light is one of 2026’s most anticipated game releases. With just over a month to go until 007 First Light goes live on PS5, time will tell what other surprises could still be revealed before then.
