New PS5 Game Coming Out Next Week Already Has Millions of People Planning to Play

More than 35 million players have already signaled their intent to jump into Arknights: Endfield ahead of its global launch next week, according to pre-registration figures shared by Push Square in a recept report. The free-to-play action RPG is slated to release on January 22, 2026 across PS5, PC, and mobile, and its massive number of pre-registrations confirm it as one of the most heavily anticipated gacha-style launches in recent years.

It’s important to note that the 35 million figure reflects combined pre-registrations across all supported platforms, not PS5 alone. Even so, that level of interest places Arknights: Endfield on the same playing field as recent gacha heavyweights like Honkai: Star Rail and Wuthering Waves, showing just how far the genre has expanded beyond its mobile-first roots as it continues to gain traction on consoles.

What Arknights: Endfield Is and How It Compares to Other Gacha Games

  • REAL-TIME ACTION RPG COMBAT with up to four playable characters in party fights.
  • OPEN-WORLD EXPLORATION in semi-open environments with resource gathering and mission objectives.
  • GACHA CHARACTER RECRUITMENT with limited banners, rarity tiers, and pull systems like pity.
  • BASE BUILDING AND FACTORY SIMULATION that processes resources, crafts gear, and supports progression.
  • RESOURCE MANAGEMENT tied into exploration and production, requiring route planning and efficient setup.
  • STRATEGIC COMBAT MECHANICS with skill gauges, tactical switching, elemental synergies, and combo usage.
  • INTERACTABLE ENVIRONMENTS with terrain features and assistive structures like ziplines.
  • SCI-FI ANIME-INSPIRED VISUALS AND NARRATIVE set on the hostile world of Talos-II.
  • CROSS-PLATFORM PLAY across PS5, PC, and mobile at launch.

Arknights: Endfield is a free-to-play action RPG that takes the Arknights universe in a very different direction. Instead of tower defense, Endfield revolves around real-time combat, exploration, and party-based encounters, with players stepping into a leadership role within Endfield Industries on the hostile world of Talos-II. Combat is paired with base management systems and automation where players are encouraged to think long-term about production and logistics, giving the game a more methodical pace than many gacha games built purely around moment-to-moment action.

Like most games in the genre, Endfield uses gacha mechanics for character acquisition, with limited banners, pity systems, and a free-to-play progression model. The difference, though, is how much emphasis it places on systems beyond merely pulling characters. Base construction and resource flow aren’t side activities here and, instead, play a major role in how players grow stronger over time. Considering the number of gacha games already available and the many more likely on the way, Arknights: Endfield‘s action RPG structure and management mechanics are a big part of why it has drawn so much attention ahead of launch, as it effectively distinguishes itself among the rest.

Why Arknights: Endfield’s Early Interest Is Hard to Ignore

Pre-registration numbers in the gacha genre tend to be significant, but crossing the 35-million mark puts Arknights: Endfield in league with the genre’s giants. Games like Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Wuthering Waves all had similar figures ahead of their own releases, and each of them went on to establish a strong long-term player base. In that context, Endfield‘s numbers point to interest that goes beyond simple curiosity.

What’s especially notable is that Arknights: Endfield‘s pre-registration numbers include PS5, PC, and mobile, rather than being driven purely by mobile players. Console gacha games are still fairly rare compared to mobile-first launches, which ultimately makes this kind of early demand hard to ignore. While pre-registrations don’t guarantee long-term success, they do allow Arknights: Endfield some major momentum as it prepares to take the stage, just like the biggest gacha games that have come before it.

With its launch just around the corner now, the real test for Arknights: Endfield will be whether this early enthusiasm eventually results in sustained engagement once players finally get their hands on it. Pre-registration figures only say so much, but they nonetheless show just how anticipated a game is—especially a gacha game on console. How Arknights: Endfield ultimately hits every target it’s aiming for will determine whether it lasts or fades away after a moment, but the attention it has already garnered makes its landing look promising.
