New PS5 Game is Basically Pokemon and It’s Coming Later This Year

New PS5 Game is Basically Pokemon and It’s Coming Later This Year

LumenTale: Memories of Trey, the 2026 monster taming title from developer Beehive Studios, is officially coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S later this year. After initially launching on Nintendo Switch and PC back in May, the developer has finally confirmed that LumenTale: Memories of Trey PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions are on the way.

In LumenTale: Memories of Trey, players encounter and capture 140 different types of Animon in turn-based battles across the world of Talea. Players can train their Animon in the Anispace, where they can strengthen their bonds with the creatures and improve their effectiveness during combat. Each Animon has elemental affinities and one of five different emotional attributes that help in battles. The game has a stunning 2.5D art style, with sprite characters and Animon alongside 3D environments. For those who like Pokemon but just want something a little different, then LumenTale: Memories of Trey is perfect for that role.

New PS5 Game Looks Like God of War Meets Aladdin

A brand-new PS5 game has just been announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live, and it looks like a hybrid of God of War and Aladdin.

LumenTale: Memories of Trey Officially Launches on PS5 Later This Year

In a new announcement trailer, LumenTale: Memories of Trey was officially confirmed for a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release later this year. No exact release date for the port of the monster taming title was given by developer Beehive Studios or publisher Team17, but it’s good to know that it’s on the way at some point in the near future. The trailer gave away very little about whether the port would include any additional updates, so it’s safe to assume this is just a port of the existing PC and Nintendo Switch versions.

lumentale exploration

On the surface, it’s clear why people might immediately draw comparisons to Pokemon, but many might also wonder whether LumenTale: Memories of Trey can live up to the same lofty standards. Following its launch on Nintendo Switch and PC in May, the game received a Top Critic Average of 79 on review aggregator OpenCritic, indicating generally strong reviews. On Steam, reviews are marked as “Mostly Positive,” showing that player and critical consensus are pretty much aligned in this case.

LumenTale: Memories of Trey Gameplay Features

  • Expansive world of Talea to explore
  • 140 Animon to collect
  • Turn-based battles (PvE and PvP)
  • Cooking and crafting mechanics
  • Train and bond with Animon in the Anispace

Obviously, when gamers think of monster taming titles, Pokemon is the main one that comes to mind. The franchise has stood the test of time, but its exclusivity to Nintendo consoles means that not every gamer will get to experience it. That leaves a void to be filled on other consoles like PlayStation and Xbox. More games like Pokemon coming to these platforms is a good thing, and it’s cool that LumenTale: Memories of Trey can expand its reach to millions more gamers later this year.

For those looking to scratch the creature collector itch, there’s plenty to look forward to in the coming months. Yami Kids is coming to Steam next month and has a seriously retro vibe, while Roco Kingdom‘s recent appearance at Gamescom offered a look at a Pokemon-style 3D creature collector that is set to open its closed beta in October. That’s before mentioning Aniimo, which releases on September 16, 2026. It’s an excellent time for the genre, and LumenTale: Memories of Trey is not to be missed.
