Widely hailed as an icon of millennial pop culture, Shrek 2 has been praised as a standout film among Dreamworks’ extensive animation catalog, and retro gaming fans may soon be able to once again dive into a fresh dose of ogre-fuelled nostalgia, following the leak of a trailer for Shrek 2 Remastered. Thanks to a now-deleted posting on the Xbox Store page, audiences have gotten a first look at the Shrek 2 game remaster ahead of its planned announcement.
Shrek 2 may not have been the most stellar of games at the time of its release, and some would argue its clunky mechanics and polygon-heavy graphics have not aged the best, but a number of players remember Shrek 2 as one of the first movie-to-game titles they were able to enjoy back in the day. Considering just how many big name franchises have been on a streak of remaking and remastering their older entries, it may not be entirely surprising to see that Shrek 2 is apparently the latest to receive its own proverbial nip and tuck.
Shrek 2 Remastered Trailer Leaks on Xbox Store
While there has been no official comment at the time of writing, the leaked information from the Xbox Store page, which has since been taken down, stated that Shrek 2 Remastered would feature “better textures, enhanced UI, 4K resolution and cutscenes”, plus a new Photo Mode and Cheat Mode. The leaked trailer from the Xbox Store page only shows the Xbox Series X|S logo at the end, but many are rumoring that the remaster will also be available on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles. As for PC, an “unannounced Shrek 2 remaster” was already revealed during the massive Steam Achievements leak in September 2026, and this new Xbox leak has given audiences a first teaser at what the game will look like.
