Ratchet and Clank hasn’t received a brand-new game in several years, but the beloved PlayStation franchise is finally gearing up for its next release. While it’s not the sequel many fans are still waiting for, Ratchet and Clank is looking to bring the series’ signature weapons, humor, and chaotic action to a completely new audience.
Rather than retreading one of the series’ existing adventures, Ratchet and Clank: Ranger Rumble is a free-to-play multiplayer hero shooter built around Captain Qwark’s latest “brilliant” idea (which, naturally, goes about as well as fans would expect). Players battle inside a combat simulation designed to train the next generation of Galactic Rangers, choosing from a growing roster of heroes with unique abilities, weapons, and playstyles.
Ratchet and Clank: Ranger Rumble is a Free-to-Play Hero Shooter
After several months of regional testing across Canada, the Nordics, France, and parts of Asia, developer Oh Bibi has officially opened worldwide pre-registration for Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble on iOS and Android ahead of its global launch. To celebrate, the team has also kicked off a community rewards campaign that unlocks bonuses based on the total number of pre-registrations, culminating in an exclusive Clank Suit cosmetic for the new Ratchet and Clank Lombax hero Widget if the final milestone is reached.

At launch, Ranger Rumble will feature 12 playable heroes, including brand-new Lombaxes, robots, and aliens created specifically for the game in collaboration with Insomniac Games. There are also 6 game modes to dive into, ranging from traditional team-based PvP and co-op PvE to more unexpected twists, including a battle royale-inspired mode and a football-inspired mode that looks every bit as chaotic as can be imagined.
Even though Ranger Rumble is a mobile game, Oh Bibi says preserving the series’ identity has been one of its biggest priorities. That means bringing back Ratchet and Clank‘s trademark humor, inventive weaponry, over-the-top action, and even musical inspiration drawn from the franchise’s earliest games, while introducing new characters that fit naturally into the universe. According to the developer, members of Insomniac Games also helped shape the new Lombaxes and their backstories.

Players who pre-register will automatically qualify for every community milestone unlocked before launch, earning currencies like Qredits, Reebos, and Raritanium to help jumpstart their progression when the game releases. With worldwide pre-registration now underway and months of player testing behind it, Ratchet and Clank: Ranger Rumble appears to be entering the final stretch before its global debut.
