Resident Evil Requiem Players Are Split Over the New Mini-Game Mode

Capcom shadow-dropped the Leon Must Die Forever DLC as the first expansion for Resident Evil Requiem, and fans have had mixed reactions. While the add-on focuses on giving players a chance to enjoy Leon’s action-oriented gameplay in Resident Evil Requiem without dealing with Grace’s slow-burn horror sections, but it seems many would have preferred a traditional Mercenaries mode instead.

The DLC rehashes the gameplay sections from the game’s main campaign while adding very little content to make the mode more dynamic. The mode to Ethan Must Die from Resident Evil 7, because of its difficult roguelike-style challenge, permadeath mechanics, tougher enemies, and unlockable perks.

Others say they were expecting a traditional Mercenaries mode similar to Resident Evil 4 and Village instead, something that has become a fan-favorite feature in previous entries. While some fans remain disappointed by the absence of Mercenaries, others are optimistic about the new mode and see it as an interesting addition to the game.

Others see Leon Must Die Forever as a great addition, praising its perk mechanics and roguelike gameplay. Some fans are also excited to have more Leon content, no matter what form it takes.

Even though the mode is free, it sort of feels incomplete and lacking when compared to similar modes like The Valhalla DLC for God of War Ragnarok. While Leon Must Die Forever may feel like a step-down compared to the DLC released for other games in the Resident Evil franchise, at least it was free and there is more content coming soon regardless.
