New Steam Game Has Serious Breaking Bad Vibes

New Steam Game Has Serious Breaking Bad Vibes

An upcoming co-op game on Steam called Baking Bad gives off strong Breaking Bad vibes, challenging players to become the town’s top dog in the illegal drug trade. However, it also appears to share several gameplay mechanics with Schedule 1, a well-known drug-dealer simulator on Steam. That said, Baking Bad hides a surprisingly sweet twist in its lore that makes the experience feel slightly less illicit than other games in the genre.

Breaking Bad frequently ranks among the highest-rated TV shows of all time in many lists and reviews. Schedule 1, meanwhile, stands out as one of the most successful games on Steam, having earned millions of dollars in profit for its solo developer. With that in mind, a game that blends the best elements of both sounds especially intriguing, making Baking Bad one to watch for fans of crime fiction.

New Shooter on Steam Takes Vampire Survivors’ Formula and Adds Some Helldivers and DOOM Sauce

A new game on Steam has strong Helldivers and DOOM vibes, even though its gameplay appears to be inspired by Vampire Survivors.

Baking Bad Features at a Glance

  • BUILD an illegal empire
  • UPGRADE your Breaking Bad-style RV
  • EXPLORE the open-world map
  • UNLOCK new recipes and products
  • EVADE the law enforcement

Baking Bad Adds a Sweet Spin to the Breaking Bad Formula

The government has banned the consumption of carbohydrates, turning sweets into contraband…

In Breaking Bad, the terminally ill protagonist Walter White builds an underground empire by mass-producing illegal substances to leave a fortune behind for his family. In Baking Bad, players run a similar illegal operation, but with a key twist: they mass-produce carbs instead. In the game’s universe, the government has banned the consumption of carbohydrates, turning sweets into contraband and pushing outlaws to sell now-illegal treats to eager customers.

The Famous Breaking Bad RV Repurposed

Several of Breaking Bad‘s most iconic scenes feature a recreational vehicle that the protagonist uses as a makeshift laboratory. Baking Bad borrows this concept with a twist, letting players build a mobile “kitchen” inside a similar RV. As a result, the game includes light driving simulation elements, allowing players to reposition freely to find new customers or evade law enforcement.

Every Walter White Needs a Jesse Pinkman

Fans of Breaking Bad‘s lore know that Jesse Pinkman, Walter White’s right-hand man, is one of the story’s most important characters. He helps the protagonist cook, distribute, and expand his product. Baking Bad seems well aware of how essential such a sidekick can be, as the game supports co-op play, allowing friends to team up and run operations together.

Schedule 1 Fans Might Enjoy Baking Bad’s Gameplay Loop

When it comes to crime-centric games on Steam, one title that often comes to mind for many players is Schedule 1, which focuses on producing and selling illegal drugs while building an advanced laboratory away from police attention. While Baking Bad and Schedule 1 differ in their core gameplay mechanics, both share a familiar “produce, sell, and expand” loop that is likely to appeal to the same audience.

In Schedule 1, progression largely revolves around expanding buildings, buying new equipment, hiring additional workers, and amassing more loyal customers and dealers. In Baking Bad, progression is more closely tied to the player’s RV, with most upgrades and furniture installed directly into the vehicle, as the outlaws do not appear to operate from a fixed location.

Baking Bad Release Date

According to the game’s Steam page, developer FunkyArmor plans to release Baking Bad in February 2026, though an exact date has yet to be announced. It is also unclear whether the game will launch in early access or go straight to a full release. However, the PC requirements are already available, suggesting that Baking Bad could end up being one of the more low-spec-friendly games on Steam once it launches.

For players looking for other solid crime games while waiting for Baking Bad, there are several strong options to consider. Cartel Tycoon is one example, letting players run an underground organization through city-building and town-management mechanics. Those looking for a more story-driven, mafia-style experience can also check out The Godfather 2, a classic crime game that has earned praise from many longtime fans of the genre.
