Nintendo Switch 2 gamers have at least five big new games to look forward to in August 2026, though the lineup consists entirely of ports of older games. The original Nintendo Switch wasn’t exactly known for being a powerful console, and so now publishers are playing catch-up on the Switch 2, bringing their PS5 and Xbox games to Nintendo’s latest platform.
The Switch 2’s launch lineup included multiple ports of well-established games, with perhaps the most notable being Cyberpunk 2077. Ports have continued to be a major part of the Switch 2’s identity, with five major ones all set to drop in August 2026. Gamers that have already played these titles may not be too excited about the Switch 2’s August 2026 lineup, but those that are new to these releases or simply want them on the go should mark their calendars accordingly.
This is not a comprehensive list of every Switch 2 game releasing in August 2026.
List of New Switch 2 Games Coming Soon
- Final Fantasy 14 – August 4
- Lies of P: Complete Edition – August 6
- The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered – August 11
- Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 – August 27
- Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition – August 28
The five big new Switch 2 games releasing in August 2026 are Final Fantasy 14 on August 4, Lies of P: Complete Edition on August 6, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered on August 11, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 on August 27, and Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on August 28. While these are all games that are readily available to play on other consoles (Master Collection Vol. 2 is a new release, but its contents are playable elsewhere), there’s no denying that they are all heavy hitters in their own right.
Final Fantasy 14, for instance, is one of the most popular MMORPGs in the world. Lies of P: Complete Edition, meanwhile, combines the critically-acclaimed Soulslike’s base game and its DLC to offer Switch 2 owners a content-complete experience out of the box. Oblivion Remastered is the classic Oblivion with updated graphics, and it will even come fully on its Switch 2 cartridge – no Game Key Card shenanigans. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 marks the first time that Metal Gear Solid 4 has escaped PS3 jail, and finally, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition has new content for fans to enjoy on top of getting the incredible base game and its award-winning expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, as portable experiences.
Nintendo itself usually sticks to a cadence of releasing an average of one first-party game per month, but that’s not happening in August. Instead, fans can look at Pokopia‘s Bubbly Basin DLC as Nintendo’s August 2026 release. The Bubby Basin DLC includes a brand-new underwater town for players to explore. It will coincide with the release of a free update that gives Pokopia players the Dive ability, allowing them to explore underwater.
While August 2026 is port-heavy when it comes to new Switch 2 releases, there are plenty of big new game drops coming in the months ahead. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is releasing in September, while Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is scheduled to launch in October. We also know that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is releasing for Switch 2 this year, but it’s currently without a release date.
