The Nintendo Switch 2 has an especially busy month ahead of it, as at least eight high-profile games are coming to the platform in September 2026. The Nintendo Switch 2 is over a year old at this point, and it’s had a very impressive first year on the market. Thanks to a strong library of exclusive games, the Switch 2 has become one of the fastest-selling video game consoles of all time, and its library is only getting better as time goes on.
Nintendo itself releases plenty of first-party games for the Switch 2, but there are also many notable releases from third-party partners as well. New Switch 2 releases represent a wide range of genres, ensuring there’s something for everyone on the platform. And soon, there will be even more Switch 2 games available, with plenty of big games on deck for September 2026.
This is not a comprehensive list of all the new Switch 2 games releasing in September 2026.
List of New Switch 2 Games Coming Soon
- Orbitals – September 3
- NBA 2K27 – September 4
- Onimusha: Way of the Sword – September 4
- Valheim – September 9
- Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave – September 17
- LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight – September 18
- EA Sports FC 27 – September 25
- Minecraft Dungeons 2 – September 29
The eight big Switch 2 games releasing in September 2026 are Orbitals on September 3, NBA 2K27 and Onimusha: Way of the Sword on September 4, Valheim on September 9, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave on September 17, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on September 18, EA Sports FC 27 on September 25, and finally, Minecraft Dungeons 2 on September 29.
Two of these games happen to be Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives, meaning fans won’t be able to play them anywhere else. The first is Orbitals, a co-op sci-fi adventure game that looks like It Takes Two but with an art style reminiscent of classic 80s-era anime. What’s been shown of Orbitals so far has looked very impressive, and so here’s hoping it lives up to the hype. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, meanwhile, is the other Switch 2 exclusive releasing in September, giving fans a massive new Fire Emblem adventure that looks like it could be the biggest and most fully-featured yet. Fire Emblem has consistently been one of Nintendo’s most critically-acclaimed franchises, and it looks like that hot streak will continue with Fortune’s Weave.
While the Switch 2 exclusives may be of the most interest to owners of the platform, the other big games releasing in September should also go a long way in giving its library a big boost. Games like Onimusha: Way of the Sword, NBA 2K27, and EA Sports FC 27 make sure the Switch 2 isn’t missing out on notable third-party releases like its predecessor often did. Minecraft Dungeons 2, meanwhile, marks yet another Xbox-published game releasing on a Nintendo platform.
Switch 2 owners have plenty of games to look forward to in September, but there’s even more on deck for later in the year. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort has locked in an October release date, while The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is assumed to be releasing in November. There’s also FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods on the way, so Switch 2 owners should have no shortage of games to play in the weeks and months ahead.
