Nintendo Switch Online Is Getting Three Games On Mario Day

Nintendo Switch Online subscribers with the Expansion Pack upgrade will soon get three new games to play, all of which will be available on Mario Day. Starting March 10, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers can play Mario vs. Donkey Kong on the Game Boy Advance app, alongside Mario’s Tennis and Mario Clash for the Virtual Boy app.

Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can play a growing catalog of games from Nintendo and third-party developers as part of their recurring subscription. Along with the base $20 per year NSO subscription, users can also upgrade to the Expansion Pack tier, which is priced at $50 per year. The upgrade comes with exclusive access to additional Nintendo Classics apps, including the Game Boy Advance, the N64, and even the Virtual Boy. In February, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers were given access to two Game Boy classics, as Yoshi and Balloon Kid were added to the Nintendo Classics lineup for Switch and Switch 2 users to enjoy.

One of the Highest-Rated Games of 2024 Shadow Dropped for the Nintendo Switch 2

Almost two years after its release, one of the highest-rated games of 2024 has shadow-dropped for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo Switch Online Users Can Add Three More Games On Mario Day

Weeks after the Virtual Boy app was released, Nintendo Switch Online users will have two more titles to play, with a classic GBA game in tow. Mario’s Tennis and Mario Clash for the Virtual Boy will be available on March 10, alongside the GBA title Mario vs. Donkey Kong. All three games will require the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription to play. The two Virtual Boy games coming on March 10 are the first to be added since the February launch of the aforementioned app. Originally released in 1995, Mario’s Tennis predates the Mario Tennis franchise by five years. Mario’s Tennis features singles and doubles formats, with seven playable characters to pick from. By comparison, Mario Clash is a 2D platformer inspired by the original Mario Bros. arcade game. In Mario Clash, Mario must throw Koopa shells at different enemies to clear the levels. The foreground and background elements of each level can be used to Mario’s advantage, and pipes on each side can be used to send shells into foes. Mario Clash and Mario’s Tennis will bring the Virtual Boy: Nintendo Classics game count up to nine, with more titles slated to arrive throughout 2026.

NSO subscribers will also receive one of the best handheld Mario titles, as Mario vs. Donkey Kong will join the Game Boy Advance lineup on March 10. Inspired by the original Donkey Kong arcade games, Mario vs. Donkey Kong is a puzzle platformer in which Mario must navigate various levels by finding keys and avoiding traps while chasing down Donkey Kong. Mario vs Donkey Kong was originally launched for the GBA in 2004, and received a Nintendo Switch remake two decades later.

The arrival of these three classic Mario games will be part of a busy March for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. During the 2026 Pokemon Day festivities, The Pokemon Company revealed that Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness will arrive on the Nintendo GameCube app sometime in March. As the sequel to Pokemon Colosseum, Gale of Darkness is a turn-based RPG that features gameplay elements from Pokemon‘s third mainline generation. Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness currently has no precise release date, so fans must wait for more information.

With the Nintendo Switch 2 approaching its first full year on the market, rumors about more classic consoles coming to Nintendo Switch Online have circulated on social media. Currently, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers can access eight console libraries, with the Sega Genesis being the lone third-party addition to the service so far.
