Following its most recent addition, Nintendo Switch Online only has one more GameCube Classic currently confirmed as coming to the service. It stands to reason, then, that Nintendo will confirm more Nintendo Switch Online games in the near future, but when, where, what, and why all remain to be seen.
Of course, there have been plenty of games added to Nintendo Switch Online with Super Mario Sunshine being the most recent. While the beloved GameCube Classic was already available on the Switch 2 via the Super Mario 3D All-Stars Collection, its addition only improves the value of a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership on the Switch 2. Other GameCube Classics include F-Zero GX, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Soulcalibur 2, Super Mario Strikers, Chibi-Robo, Luigi’s Mansion, Wario World, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. Yet one confirmed Pokemon game is still missing.
Pokemon Colosseum is Missing from Nintendo Switch Online (…For a Reason?)
As of this writing, Nintendo has confirmed but has yet to add Pokemon Colosseum to the lineup. It is strange that the sequel, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, was added before it, but that could perhaps be a coincidence. Fans can only wait for the company to add it, but venturing out on a limb, there is some POSSIBLE indication that it’ll be around October. According to generally reliable leaker Spheshal Nick, Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald come to Switch consoles in late September or October.

For those unaware, Pokemon Colosseum had a special relationship with the Gen 3 Game Boy Advance games (the aforementioned titles). Way back in the day, gamers could use a special Game Boy Advance-to-GameCube link cable to connect any of them with Pokemon Colosseum to trade or battle Pokemon. In other words, releasing it in proximity makes sense as a nostalgia play, alongside games that are certain to sell well and possibly bolster subscriptions to Nintendo Switch Online.
Not to mention, this isn’t unprecedented. Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen joined the Switch family on February 27, and less than one full month later, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness was added to NSO. It could be that all the companies involved are looking to do so again, building up a really busy holiday season given that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake (at least for Nintendo) would also be in a similar-ish window. The Big N stands to make some serious bank on nostalgia this holiday season.

Of course, nothing is confirmed by Nintendo yet and may not be for a few more weeks. Still, with it being the last GameCube Classic announced by the company, it stands to reason more will be announced for future waves and soon, and that Pokemon Colosseum is getting closer every day.
