Nintendo’s Mario Day Sale Is Bad, But There Is One Great Deal

Nintendo’s Mario Day Sale Is Bad, But There Is One Great Deal

Mario Day is…not here just yet. But ahead of March 10, Nintendo has launched a sale on the Nintendo eShop, and it’s uh, bad. But one Mario crossover game is massively discounted, so Mario Day 2026 isn’t a total bust!

March 10 is Mario Day because if you abbreviate March to Mar and add 10 to that, it sort of looks like Mario. Let’s try it. Mar10. Sure. Whatever. Anyway, for a few years now, Nintendo has joined in on the Mario Day celebrations with digital events and sales, and in 2026, that tradition continues. Starting today and running until March 15, Nintendo has discounted a small selection of Mario video games to celebrate the occasion. Key word in that last sentence being “small.”

Here’s what’s on sale on the eShop to celebrate Mario Day:

  • Mario+Rabbids: Sparks of Hope Gold Edition – $9 ($90)
  • Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury – $40 ($60)
  • Mario vs Donkey Kong – $40 ($50)
  • Super Mario Maker 2 – $40 ($60)
  • Super Mario Party Jamboree -$42 ($60)
  • Super Mario Party Jamboree Switch 2 Edition – $62 ($80)
  • Super Mario RPG – $42 ($60)
  • Luigi’s Mansion 3 – $40 ($60)
  • Donkey Kong Country Returns HD – $42 ($60)
  • Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – $30 ($60)

The biggest and best deal from this small collection is definitely the massive discount on the Mario+Rabbids sequel. Sparks of Hope is a fantastic turn-based tactical XCOM-like featuring some great visuals and a bonkers story. If you’ve not played it, I highly recommend picking it up for $9. You’ll have a great time.

As for the rest of the deals, there are some good games, but the deals feel so small. And it also feels like some games are missing. Why not discount the Mario Galaxy collection? Or Super Mario Odyssey? Well, Nintendo technically is selling that and some other extra games for cheaper than usual, but only at physical stores as seen in the banner ad below.

I’m still not overly impressed by these meh deals on old games, but if you’ve yet to play Super Mario Odyssey, well, $40 for a physical copy you can trade away later or let people borrow is an okay deal, at least in the context of Nintendo math. After all, it’s almost a decade old and a last-gen game at this point.

Happy Mario Day, everyone! Stop complaining and smile!
