Nvidia Graphics Card Prices May Have Yet Another Price Hike Coming

Nvidia Graphics Card Prices May Have Yet Another Price Hike Coming

Graphics card prices could be increasing once again, with a new report claiming Nvidia is preparing another round of price hikes across its GeForce RTX lineup. Nvidia remains one of the dominant companies in the graphics card market, supplying GPUs to manufacturers across the PC hardware industry.

Throughout much of 2026, GPU prices have already been climbing, and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. Nvidia and AMD reportedly increased memory prices by approximately 10% to 15% in January, while another adjustment in May primarily affected the RTX 5090, bringing the price of the flagship cards to $5,900 for some of the highest-tier models. GPU supply has even gotten to the point where Nvidia is selling five-year-old cards again. If the latest report proves accurate, this would be Nvidia’s third GPU price increase this year, and could potentially affect a much broader selection of products.

Nvidia’s latest DLSS update draws mixed reactions as developers question how AI influences visuals and creative control in game design.

Another Nvidia Graphics Card Price Increase May Be Coming

According to a BenchLife report, Nvidia has notified its board partners of higher prices for GPU-and-memory kits using both GDDR7 and GDDR6. Separately, Taiwan’s Economic Daily News claims the adjustment could reach approximately 20% to 30%. The Daily News report claims that prices are being raised due to the continuing rise in DRAM costs, which have also affected consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X in recent months. Unlike the previous price change in May, this latest adjustment is said to extend beyond the RTX 5090 and affect products using both current GDDR7 and previous-generation GDDR6 memory, meaning the RTX 4000 series could see a price bump too.

Unfortunately, gamers could start feeling the effects of this price increase soon, as even modest manufacturing-level increases can significantly alter retail pricing. Premium RTX 5080 models are already becoming considerably more expensive. On July 30, Best Buy listed the Asus ROG Astral RTX 5080 OC for $2,099, up from its $1,499 launch price. If another price increase does occur, high-end cards like the RTX 5080 and 5090 may become even harder to justify for many PC gamers, even at the enthusiast level.

Nvidia isn’t the only company facing memory pressures as the RAM shortage continues to affect much of the PC hardware industry. AMD and Intel components have seen their own share of price increases lately and would be equally likely to raise costs again if memory prices remain elevated. What’s more, the current hardware market has driven up prices for the PS5 and Xbox Series X just as the next console generation approaches, with fans worried about what either company would charge at launch. Unfortunately, industry analysts don’t expect pricing pressure to ease any time soon.

Nvidia has not publicly confirmed the reported kit-price adjustment. Even if the reports are accurate, the effect on consumers will vary by manufacturer, region, retailer, and the amount of older inventory still available. Should the GPU package price for third-party board partners increase, it would mark another setback for gamers hoping that graphics card prices would stabilize after years of mark-ups, with no end in sight. Buyers planning to upgrade their PCs may want to keep a close eye on pricing trends over the coming weeks before making a purchase.
