Multiple retailers are planning midnight release parties for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, but one has now announced that it will be canceling the event at all of its locations. Based on the N64 game of the same name, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is an upcoming remake coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2. There are still a lot of people passionate about the 1998 original, and the remake seems to be drawing a lot of excitement from older fans.
Why One Retailer Is Canceling its Zelda Midnight Plans
In a post on Twitter, French video game retailer Micromania announced that it is canceling the midnight launch plans for Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The post does not go into specific details about why the plans were canceled, but it’s likely related to the protests that have recently taken place around the country. Micromania planned a midnight bonus for Zelda: Ocarina of Time, in the form of an exclusive box designed to resemble the PAL box for the original N64 game. The retailer will still give the box away, but it will now be offered through a random draw for anyone that pre-orders the game from the retailer. In total, 5,000 boxes will be made available.
