Ocarina of Time Remake Release Date

Ocarina of Time Remake Release Date

Nintendo has commented on the release plans for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the highest-rated game ever made and so it’s not surprising at all that Nintendo is looking to remake it for the Switch 2. The Ocarina of Time remake was officially announced at the big June Nintendo Direct event with a short teaser that didn’t reveal a whole lot about the project.

The short Ocarina of Time reveal trailer showed Link sleeping in his bed and little else. Based on the trailer, it seems like the Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake is going for a more realistic vibe with the graphics, but that’s just speculation at this time. Since the reveal trailer showed so little, some Zelda fans have been worried that the game will slip to next year, but Nintendo has issued a new statement that should be reassuring.

New Switch Game is Basically Co-Op Zelda

An upcoming Nintendo Switch game looks like classic Legend of Zelda, but with a co-op twist that should help it stand out.

Nintendo Gives Update on Zelda: Ocarina of Time Switch 2 Remake

In its latest financial report, Nintendo confirmed that it is still planning on releasing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in 2026. The statement did not include a more specific release window, but we can use Nintendo’s established patterns to help narrow things down. For the most part, Nintendo likes to average one big new game release per month. September is taken up by Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, while Nintendo Switch Sports Resort has laid claim to October. This means that it’s incredibly likely the Zelda: Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake will drop at some point in November.

Fans have noticed that Nintendo likes to pair amiibo release dates with game release dates, even if the figures are unrelated to the game in question. If this holds true for Nintendo’s release plans for November, then the safest bet is that the Ocarina of Time remake will drop on November 11. The one thing working against that theory is Nintendo doesn’t typically release new games on Wednesdays, but regardless, chances are good that the Ocarina of Time remake will release within the first couple weeks of November.

Assuming the Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake releases in November as expected, it’s likely that it will be virtually unopposed. Many game publishers have opted to release their games in September this year to put as much space as possible between their releases and Grand Theft Auto 6. Nintendo does not seem afraid of GTA 6, and nor should it be. Ocarina of Time is big enough that it should have no problem selling well in November, especially when one considers that GTA 6 isn’t even releasing for Switch 2 anyway.

Of course, it’s always possible the Ocarina of Time remake will slip to December, or even release earlier than expected, but the most likely scenario remains that the game will release in the first two weeks of November. Nintendo is rumored to be hosting a Nintendo Direct event in September, so more concrete information should be right around the corner.
