A fresh clip from Nintendo offers an extended look at Ganondorf in the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake rebuilds the Nintendo 64 classic for the Switch 2 with completely overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes, and modernized controls, though a few character designs have left some fans divided.
The Ocarina of Time remake got a much bigger showcase during Nintendo’s Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, where it confirmed a November 5 release date and several major changes. Alongside completely rebuilt visuals, Nintendo is adding symphonic orchestral music, expanded character dialogue, fully voiced cutscenes, faster loading, and more responsive movement. Link can also freely jump and dash with new commands, while players have considerably more control over the camera than in the original. Those significant graphical changes might make familiar characters particularly interesting to revisit, especially when it comes to someone as important to Nintendo’s Ocarina of Time remake as Ganondorf.
On the Nintendo Today mobile app, the company has shared an extended clip centered on Ganondorf that expands upon footage previously shown in the remake’s main trailer. The video shows the classic scene where Link first encounters the Gerudo villain and includes several additional seconds that offer a closer look at his redesigned character model, facial animation, and overall presentation. Viewers also get a very brief look at the remake’s new voice acting, with narration pointing toward Ganondorf’s origins as a Gerudo man born once every hundred years and his ambition to obtain the Triforce. On the app, Nintendo has shared additional comparison footage showing how the same scene looks across the Nintendo 64, Nintendo 3DS, and Switch 2 versions of Ocarina of Time.
Fans may note that Ganondorf’s updated appearance remains recognizably based on his original Ocarina of Time design rather than borrowing heavily from later interpretations of the character. His red hair, armor, jewelry, facial structure, and exaggerated features have been recreated with much more detail, while improved lighting and animation appear to make the villain more expressive during story scenes. The additional direct comparisons are particularly effective at showing how Nintendo has preserved the fundamentals of the N64 design while adapting them to the upgraded visuals in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake.
Early fan reaction on Reddit to the Ocarina of Time footage has been largely positive, with several players singling out Ganondorf’s profile and post-timeskip appearance for praise. His longer hair has drawn particular attention, while other fans have noted how closely the remake preserves the exaggerated facial features of his N64 model. Not every response has been positive, however, with some viewers criticizing elements such as his nose, jawline, or the remake’s glossy character rendering.
Players will get to see much more of the remade Ganondorf when The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches on November 5. The remake will also introduce the Threads of Time progression feature, Zelda Notes support, a freely controllable camera, and the ability to hum learned melodies into the Switch 2 microphone, so Link can play them on his ocarina. With Nintendo continuing to highlight individual scenes and characters ahead of launch, the latest Ganondorf footage offers another glimpse at just how extensively The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is being rebuilt for a new generation.
