Dispatch developer Ad Hoc has just released a new update containing free DLC for all platforms. The new HR Violations DLC pack for Dispatch aims to address some of the controversy surrounding Dispatch‘s Switch release, where certain scenes were heavily censored compared to other versions of the game. While the Switch version will benefit the most from the HR Violations pack, all players will be able to access the new options it introduces.
The weekly release of Dispatch‘s episodes helped propel the game to critical and commercial success when it released throughout October and November last year. Calling back to the episodic releases of classic Telltale games, Dispatch combines the choose-your-own-adventure style of gameplay of Telltale’s signature formula with its own contribution to the genre in the form of real-time superhero dispatch management. Between these gameplay elements and the fantastic writing and performances of its characters, Dispatch quickly became a hit within the genre.

Dispatch Launches Free HR Violations DLC Pack to Address Censorship Concerns
Announced via the official Dispatch Discord server, Ad Hoc is releasing the HR Violations DLC pack today for free for all players to download. The purpose of this DLC is to address the censorship of the Nintendo Switch version of Dispatch, which took many players by surprise as it was not marketed as a censored version when it was released back in January of this year. While the HR Violations DLC doesn’t uncensor all previously censored content, it goes a long way toward putting the Switch version of the game on par with the Steam and PS5 releases.

The Dispatch content that remains censored includes any full nudity and explicit audio. This means anytime Toxic is on screen, he will still be censored, and Invisigal’s dream sequence will still have its audio muted. However, other instances of partial nudity and rude gestures that were previously unable to be shown are now fully uncensored.
Nintendo Switch players can download the HR Violations pack from the DLC menu of the eShop. Steam and PS5 players simply need to update their game to access the new censorship options.
Ad Hoc also provided clarification as to why this censorship of the Switch release happened in the first place. As many fans had theorized, Ad Hoc claims that, due to time and budget constraints, only a single Switch version of Dispatch was developed, which needed to comply with all regional censorship laws. The result was a version released in North America that didn’t match what was advertised through trailers and other promotional media, and Ad Hoc wanted to release this DLC as a way to correct this mistake.

The HR Violations DLC will also include the option to adjust the way in which content is censored, giving players more freedom over how they experience Dispatch‘s more raunchy scenes. There are three censorship styles that players will be able to choose from: mosaic, black bars, and utter chaos. While the first two censorship options are self-explanatory, the utter chaos option makes things a bit more silly, putting things like jorts on Toxic or the Dispatch logo’s cape on Sonar’s middle finger.
