One of the Most Promising PS5 Games for March 2026 Has Now Been Delayed

Mouse: P.I. for Hire has been delayed less than one month ahead of its planned release date. The Mickey Mouse-meets-film-noir FPS has drawn a lot of attention since its initial reveal in 2023 despite not having the backing of a major studio, thanks to its eye-catching visuals and unique twist on the genre. Now, anyone anxious to try Mouse: P.I. for Hire for themselves will have to wait a bit longer.

Some gamers had labeled Mouse: P.I. for Hire as one of the most anticipated games of 2026 as its now-delayed launch window grew closer. It’s easy to see why, too, with trailers showing off a rubber-and-hose animation style reminiscent of 1930s cartoons juxtaposed against a gritty, noir-inspired detective story. Fans lauded the game for looking like something truly original, but now it’ll take a little longer to see how it lives up to these expectations.

Mouse: P.I. for Hire Delayed Until April 16, 2026

Just over three weeks before Mouse: P.I. for Hire was set to come out, developer Fumi Games shared that it would push back the game’s release date to April 16, 2026. Back when the studio revealed that Mouse would feature the voice talents of Troy Baker, it was shooting for a 2025 release window. Later that year, though, Fumi Games would delay it until March 19, 2026, with development taking a little longer than originally anticipated. Now, the same has happened again, though the change is not quite as dramatic this time around.

According to Fumi’s announcement, the team is taking extra time to make sure Mouse: P.I. for Hire is “an experience to remember.” Early looks at the game had already generated buzz that it could join the ranks of the best hand-drawn video games around today, but high expectations can be a curse at times for developers. While Fumi Games did not dig into specifics about what it was working on, it reaffirmed that it wants to release the best game it can, so the extra few weeks could give devs time to squash bugs and polish some remaining rough edges. Given that the delay is only for a few weeks, it doesn’t seem like there is anything too major to resolve. Still, considering how buggy launches have seriously hampered some games in the past, it makes sense that Fumi wants to take additional time to bring Mouse across the finish line.

Even without Mouse, March is still looking like a stacked month for new releases. FPS fans have Marathon to look forward to, and the much-hyped Crimson Desert is also releasing that month, among other noteworthy titles. Then, it will be just a matter of weeks before the cartoonish noir shooter drops and gamers can decide for themselves if it lives up to the pre-release hype. Fans across all platforms can get excited about it, too, as Mouse: P.I. for Hire has been confirmed for Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Beyond Mouse, there are still plenty of games with ridiculous gameplay coming out in 2026, and, of course, the long-awaited release of Grand Theft Auto 6 in the back half of the year. Even with some delays, it’s looking like a busy year for new games, both from major studios and in the indie space. The wait for Mouse: P.I. for Hire is almost over, though it may still be longer than anticipated, and there is a strong slate of upcoming releases to fill the void in the meantime.
