Overwatch Survey Teases Potential Upcoming Anime and Game Collaborations

An official questionnaire recently sent to Overwatch fans in China suggests that Blizzard is looking into several massive new partnerships with famous anime and video game series. This new move shows how the studio is trying to keep the momentum going for Overwatch after a huge year of updates and changes. While nothing is set in stone yet, the list of names mentioned has already sparked a lot of excitement across the internet. These surveys are a way for the developers to see which franchises are worth reaching out to for upcoming seasons.

Blizzard recently chose to drop the “2” from the title and return to simply calling the game Overwatch, marking a fresh start for the franchise. The game is currently in its strongest state in years, following a sizable expansion that introduced five new heroes at the same time, including the highly popular Jetpack Cat. Even though the original plans for a dedicated PvE mode were eventually canceled, the focus has shifted entirely back to making the best PvP experience possible. This “redo” moment has brought back millions of players who had stepped away for years, leading to shorter wait times for matches and a much friendlier community vibe. Even the game’s reputation on Steam is slowly recovering, with positive reviews starting to climb after a long period of negativity.

Blizzard confirms an Overwatch 2 collaboration event with Street Fighter 6 that offers exciting new content for fighting game fans.

Potential Anime and Gaming Crossovers Coming to Overwatch in the Future

The latest buzz comes from a player survey discovered by Overwatch Cavalry, which asks users in China about their favorite media properties. The survey includes titles like One Piece, Naruto, Cyberpunk, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Powerpuff Girls, Elden Ring, and more as potential candidates for future skins. The list is packed with other heavy hitters from the world of Japanese animation, including Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Fans on Reddit have already started brainstorming how these characters could fit into the game, with some suggesting a Star Platinum skin for Doomfist or Ramattra. There were also mentions of cult classics like Saint Seiya and the adorable Chiikawa. On the gaming side, Blizzard seems to be eyeing legendary series like Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, and even the courtroom drama Ace Attorney. On social media, fans are particularly vocal about wanting an “Objection!” voice line for Zenyatta or a giant gavel for Reinhardt. The survey appears to gauge player interest rather than confirming that these skins are in active development, but it shows the ambitious direction Blizzard is heading.

These potential new deals follow a string of successful partnerships that have already landed in the game. Earlier this month, a highly anticipated NieR: Automata crossover in Overwatch went live on March 10, bringing characters like 2B and 9S to the battlefield. In this specific collection, Kiriko took on the role of 2B, while Wuyang appeared as 9S, and Mercy was dressed as Commander White. While some players felt that other heroes might have fit the roles better—like Illari as 2B—the skins were still a massive hit with the player base. This came shortly after a Hello Kitty and Friends collaboration with Sanrio, which was heavily focused on support heroes. While these crossovers sometimes feel biased toward certain popular characters, they are clearly a major draw for Blizzard, as fans are more than willing to spend cash on high-quality themed cosmetics. Even players who usually avoid spending money have admitted that an Elden Ring or Cyberpunk pack would be their “one time” purchase.

Beyond just cosmetic items, the game has introduced deep gameplay changes that have revitalized the core experience. One of the biggest additions is a mode called Stadium, which plays a bit like a MOBA by allowing players to buy ability upgrades and buffs as a match progresses. This system lets people customize their favorite heroes to be more durable or deal more damage depending on the situation. This makes every round feel unique and high-energy, especially with a new “build-helper” that guides players through their upgrade choices. Newer Overwatch heroes like Juno, a support character equipped with Martian hover boots and a healing ray-gun, have also helped flesh out the roster. These additions, alongside the release of five heroes at once during the recent expansion, have helped the game feel more complete and polished than it has been in years.

Looking ahead, Blizzard has no plans to slow down this newfound momentum. With five more heroes scheduled to arrive throughout the rest of 2026 and plenty of new lore to uncover, Blizzard appears to be committed to making Overwatch a forever game. While the survey doesn’t guarantee that every title listed will get a skin, much like how Fortnite surveys often feature names that never actually appear, it shows that Blizzard is actively listening to what fans want. Whether it’s a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners crossover featuring Adam Smasher for Doomfist or a Resident Evil pack that players are already promising to buy in full, the future of the hero shooter looks brighter than it has been since the original game debuted a decade ago.
