Cards from the brand-new Palworld Official Card Game are already being resold online for eye-watering prices, with some fetching more than $2,000. The trading card game based on Pocketpair’s breakout hit, Palworld, officially debuted on July 30.
The monster-catching survival game from Pocketpair became a phenomenon in the gaming world after its release in early access. The game quickly drew comparisons to Pokemon for its mix of adorable and fearsome Pal creatures, with players able to capture Pals, put them to work in their bases, and outfit them with guns. The game sold millions of copies during its launch week and has received consistent updates in the years since, and Pocketpair recently launched Palworld‘s long-awaited 1.0 update in early July. Now, the newest addition to the growing franchise is garnering major attention, but not for a reason fans may like.

The newly-released Palworld Official Card Game is being targeted by scalpers just days after its release. The official release of the Dawn of Palpagos set came with some stunning full-art SP cards of popular Pals like Lyleen and Chillet, which have already seen sales topping $2,000 on eBay. The set’s biggest chase card, an SSS rare golden Soul card featuring artwork of Cattiva, has fetched even higher prices, with one selling on July 27 for nearly $4,000. Booster boxes have also been a target for scalpers looking to make a quick buck, with cases of 12 boxes selling for more than $2,000.

The frenzy over the Palworld card game has also led fans to notice a curious quirk in the first set. Fans have discovered that many boxes of the Dawn of Palpagos expansion feature a printing error, with the game mistakenly spelled “Palword” in the fine print. Some have suggested that the erroneous printing may be part of the reason prices for the Palworld card game have spiked so quickly, with speculators eager to jump on an error that could be valuable to hardcore collectors. Misprints have often been highly sought-after in other card games as well, with some collectors jumping at the chance to own an official error from a popular game.
The Palworld Official Card Game‘s debut is just one part of a big push for the game throughout the summer of 2026. The previously mentioned 1.0 update for Palworld brought a multitude of major additions to the game, including more than 70 new Pals for players to find in-game. Pocketpair also finally allowed fans to visit The World Tree for the first time following the Version 1.0 update, after teasing the mysterious location in the background for years.
Pocketpair clearly has big plans for Palworld as a full-blown franchise, with a spin-off in development for the series. The developer officially revealed Palworld: Palfarm in late 2025 as a farming sim spin-off of the popular game, though little information about the game has surfaced since its reveal. Palfarm is expected to shift away from the main game’s focus on exploration and survival, instead focusing on players growing their bonds with their Pals and drawing elements of games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. Palworld fans should have plenty of reason to be excited about its future, with much planned for both the main game and its spin-off.
