Palworld Clone Pickmos Removed From Steam

Palworld Clone Pickmos Removed From Steam

Steam has removed Pickmos, a game accused of copying Pokemon and Palworld. The removed survival video game is scheduled for full release in 2027, but its future remains uncertain due to numerous controversies surrounding its development. The first doubts arose over the name itself, which was originally Pickmon, leading to accusations that it was a clone of the Pokemon series. However, the name change to the current Pickmos did not put an end to allegations that the game bore too close a resemblance to other titles, going beyond mere inspiration.

Accusations that the game relies too much on other well-known titles aren’t limited to Palworld and the Pokemon series. Shortly after its announcement, the gaming community accused it of copying The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as well.

The Best Games To Play If You Like Pokemon

It’s not easy finding a selection of games that tick all the same boxes that Pokémon does, but fans of the franchise should love these titles.

Pickmos Removed From Steam

The fallout from the numerous controversies has already caught up with the creators of Pickmos, as the game has joined the ranks of titles removed from Steam. The publisher, NetworkGo, addressed the matter by posting a statement on the game’s official Twitter account. In the post, the company acknowledged that it has been receiving feedback since the game was removed from the platform and assured that it’s taking it into account, which has led to the decision to officially join the development process. NetworkGo also announced that it will oversee the work being done by the team responsible for Pickmos in order to improve the game from the players’ perspective and provide them with a better experience.

In the comments section below the post, players were reluctant to believe the publisher’s assurances. One user brought up the allegations that this monster-taming video game copies the Pokemon series, posting an image of a fan-made Pokemon design and asking whether the issue of their alleged plagiarism would be addressed. Other commenters believed that the statement was an attempt by the publisher to shirk responsibility, pointing out that the changes wouldn’t make much of a difference when the entire concept of the game isn’t original. NetworkGo responded to some of the comments, stating that it is currently focused on gathering information to use in revising its production in order to provide players with a controversy-free experience.

The official Pickmos gameplay trailer posted on YouTube also drew a lot of negative comments from players. Most commenters said they didn’t see any creative or original ideas in the video, but rather a mix of many existing games.

While there are many games similar to Palworld that have already been released or are currently in development, the case of Pickmos shows that inspiration has its limits. At this point, it is difficult to predict the future of this controversial project, so it remains to be seen whether it will return to Steam.
