PC Gamers Can Claim a 10/10 Masterpiece for Free on February 18 and Keep It Forever

PC Gamers Can Claim a 10/10 Masterpiece for Free on February 18 and Keep It Forever

While PC gamers know to expect free games on Epic Games Store every Thursday and free games on Steam every now and then, sometimes they come out of left field. That’s exactly the case with a free PC game coming later this month, February 18 to be exact, and it will be free to keep forever. The only things players will need are a PC, internet access, and a marked calendar.

On February 18, the Legion Gaming Community will initiate a free Key Drop event starting at 9 am PT/12 pm ET. To claim the key, players will need to have an account on the Legion Gaming Community, connect it to their active Steam, and join the Key Drop queue when it comes time. Once through, players will have 10 minutes to claim the free code and then redeem it through Lenovo’s partner Gamesplanet. It’s recommended that you be logged into Gamesplanet before joining the Key Drop event for fluidity.

PC Gamers Can Claim Heavy Rain for Free

The key in question is for Heavy Rain, a classic narrative-driven, choice-based game from Quantic Dream (developer of Detroit: Become Human, currently working on Star Wars Eclipse). It’s an older title, released back in 2010 with a solid 87 aggregate score on Metacritic, but it’s still well worth your time. It’s worth noting, however, that there are plenty of 10/10 scores from both critics and users alike, with there being over 100+ 10/10 scores on the platform.

The main goal of Heavy Rain is to identify the “Origami Killer” while navigating the actions and story of four characters. Ethan Mars, Madison Paige, Scott Shelby, and Norman Jayden are the playable characters, all with their own ties to the Origami Killer. As with the best choice-driven horror games, these characters can live or die based on the player’s decision-making and skill.

Given that it has released in various forms over the years, including a PS4 remaster in 2016 and a PC release in 2020, it’s worth noting that this PC version is on par with the PS4 remaster. Fans can expect polished performance and visual upgrades from its original 2010 release. However, it’s worth noting that this version will not include the DLC called The Taxidermist, given both its brevity and exclusivity to the original PS3 game.

Finally, fans should be aware that the Key Drop event is not a limitless supply of free games. It usually takes a few hours, but these codes will no doubt go quickly. As such, fans should be ready to hop in when the Key Drop event starts and claim their 10/10 masterpiece absolutely for free.

Keep Your Ear to the Ground for Free Games

Free-to-play games are everywhere on the PC market, if someone knows where to look. Steam is the most erratic of the bunch, yet it also often has the most varied of the bunch, with the recent batch of free Steam games being a good example of a limited-time event. Variety is good, given the sheer number of PC gamers, but so is dependability. Fans should know that Epic Games Store rotates in and out a selection of free games every Thursday at 10 am CT.

And of course, there are these Key Drop events from the Legion Gaming Community. This isn’t the first and it’s far from the last, but ultimately, it depends on someone’s ability to be around at specific times.
