Phasmophobia is crossing over with the Alan Wake franchise, and the developers have revealed that the story was written by none other than Sam Lake. Ghost hunters will have three weeks to explore everything that the Phasmophobia Alan Wake crossover has to offer before it disappears.
Since Alan Wake 2‘s heralded release back in 2023, the Remedy Connected Universe, of which it is a part of, has only been revisited once, with the launch of FBC: Firebreak. Remedy Entertainment intends to release Control Resonant in 2026, which will also bring back the shared universe, but Alan Wake 2‘s 2024 The Lake House DLC marked the last time the core series saw an official new release. Fans who can’t get enough of the Alan Wake story may want to check out Phasmophobia before this event ends.
How to Use the Angel Lamp in Phasmophobia
The Angel Lamp is a new item added for the Alan Wake event, and we’ll show you exactly what it’s used for in this guide.
Phasmophobia Alan Wake Story Was Penned By Sam Lake
The new Phasmophobia Alan Wake event has now launched, and the teams responsible have recently discussed with GameSpot how the event came about. The event features a unique story that was written by Sam Lake, Remedy Entertainment’s creative director and the original writer of both Alan Wake and Alan Wake 2. The event also features the voice of Alan Wake, Matthew Porretta, who provides narration. This partnership has been in the works since 2024, when Kinetic’s director of marketing and partnerships reached out to Remedy’s communications director on Twitter about the possibility of a crossover.

The new event offers a great deal for Alan Wake and Phasmophobia fans to explore and unlock. New skins based off of Alan Wake and Saga Anderson have been added to the game, which make use of Phasmophobia‘s recent character overhaul update. Four of Phasmophobia‘s maps have been reworked to fit the crossover, including Nell’s Diner, Camp Woodwind, Grafton Farmhouse, and Bleasdale Farmhouse. A number of charms and an ID Card and Badge based on Alan Wake have also been added to the game. Everything can be unlocked by playing through the game, as Kinetic Games’ developers have expressed that there are currently no plans to bring microtransactions to Phasmophobia.
For now, this is the only crossover event that Phasmophobia‘s developers have publicly shared, and there are no concrete plans to repeat the Alan Wake event. However, both the Phasmophobia and Alan Wake sides seem to agree that this collaboration is a great match, and didn’t deny the possibility of another crossover someday. Kinetic’s Asim Tanvir noted that the team would like to do more collaborations, but that potential partner games “need to feel right” as a match with Phasmophobia. Remedy’s Molly Maloney noted that Alan Wake‘s lore “expressly allows reality to be rewritten,” and that the pairing was a “match made in heaven.”

The Phasmophobia Alan Wake event begins on May 12, and will run for three weeks. Just prior to that, Phasmophobia saw its long-awaited character overhaul on May 5, but unfortunately, there were a number of graphical issues and glitches when it released. As part of the update adding the Alan Wake event to Phasmophobia, the developers have also made a number of fixes and adjustments in an effort to fix the problems.
