Pokemon Fan Uses 3D Printer to Make Jaw-Dropping Gengar Lich King

A Pokemon fan 3D-printed a Gengar that was also adorned with the crown and belt of The Lich King, one of the chief antagonists of the Warcraft franchise, and shared their handiwork on social media. The Pokemon artist stated that no multicolor painting was required for their 3D-printed depiction of Gengar as The Lich King.

Known as the Shadow Pokemon, Gengar is the fully evolved form of Gastly and Haunter. As one of the most notorious Ghost-type Pokemon in the franchise, Gengar has made several appearances since its debut in Pokemon Red and Blue. Gengar is known for its mischievous grin, its glowing red eyes, and access to moves like Shadow Ball and Nasty Plot. Gengar’s Mega form is also a threat in competitive Pokemon battles, as it can use the Shadow Tag ability to prevent opposing Pokemon from switching out.

Pokemon Anime Gives a Much Better Idea of When to Expect the Winds and Waves Release Date

Pokemon fans may be waiting longer than expected for Winds and Waves if the upcoming Horizons anime arc is anything to go by.

Pokemon and Warcraft Fan Combines Gengar With The Lich King

Though other Pokemon fan art contributions have combined Gengar with other Nintendo characters, one artist chose to fuse Gengar with an entirely different character altogether. On the Pokemon subreddit, a Redditor named Daigan2 shared a 3D-printed Gengar they made that depicted the Shadow Pokemon as The Lich King from Blizzard’s Warcraft franchise. Gengar was given The Lich King’s iconic Helm of Domination, with a skull depicted in the middle. Some additional black spikes were added throughout the top of the Helm of Domination. Additionally, Gengar was given a bone-plated belt with another skull placed in the center.

Gengar was also given some dark claws on its hands, adding another layer of intimidation to the Shadow Pokemon’s visage. Although Gengar’s purple body and red eyes are distinct, Daigan2 opted to use Gengar’s Shiny variant as the main color. The Shiny variant of Gengar has a gray body, though its red eyes usually remain intact. However, given that The Lich King’s eyes are a glowing blue, Daigan2 chose to combine The Lich King’s blue eyes with Gengar’s red eyes, creating a purple-eyed depiction of the Shadow Pokemon.

Who Is The Lich King?

In short, The Lich King was introduced to the Warcraft franchise as a driving force during Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and its expansion, The Frozen Throne. The Lich King was once the orc shaman Ner’zhul, whose soul was twisted and fused within a frozen suit of armor entombed in ice atop Icecrown. The Lich King’s name and mantle were eventually passed to Arthas Menethil, the fallen prince of Lordaeron. After overpowering what was left of Ner’zhul’s soul, Arthas’ reign of terror as The Lich King was showcased throughout World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King and its various dungeons and raids. Considered the most iconic villain in World of Warcraft’s long history, The Lich King tormented player characters and NPCs alike. However, no king rules forever, as Arthas was eventually defeated atop Icecrown Citadel. The Lich King’s helm and title were then passed to Bolvar Fordragon, until the Helm of Domination was shattered by Sylvanas Windrunner before the start of World of Warcraft‘s controversial Shadowlands expansion.

Though Gengar remains a popular Pokemon fan art subject, other Pokemon trainers complimented Daigan2 for combining the Pokemon and Warcraft franchises in a unique way. With Pokemon Winds and Waves in development, time will tell if Gengar will make an appearance.
