The high Mega Energy cost won’t be the only big change coming with the addition of Mega Mewtwo. Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y will also boast higher stat totals than previous Mega Pokemon, with Mega Mewtwo X having 339 ATK and 215 DEF while Mega Mewtwo Y boasts 413 ATK and 223 DEF, with both sharing a 228 SPD stat. Mega Mewtwo X will max out at a potential total of 6,910 Combat Power in Pokemon GO, while Mega Mewtwo Y’s CP sits slightly higher at 7,267. The CP for both forms sits higher than any other Mega Pokemon in Pokemon GO, with only Eternatus having higher CP.
Mega Mewtwo’s addition during GO Fest 2026 will mark a major change for how Pokemon GO handles Mega Pokemon with two forms. Charizard is the only pre-existing Pokemon in the game to boast two different Mega Evolutions, with players previously able to choose either form when Mega-Evolving. An update to Pokemon GO on May 18 officially split Mega Charizard Energy into separate pools for Mega Charizard X and Y, with players being given an equal amount of each after the change. Pokemon GO is also expected to introduce Mega Raichu X and Y in the near future, which first appeared in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
